[ Geir is sitting on the couch, watching one of the tropical fish he brought back from Ace's seaventures and carving a sigil into a stone as Elijah makes his post. When the other man is done, he doesn't look up, though he does speak. ]

You have been more yourself.

[Elijah leans back in his chair, away from the table where he'd set the PORTAL to record, and turns to Geir with a quirked eyebrow.]

What do you mean by that?

Less nervous. Making more sense.

[ He nods his head toward the place a dark black book once sat. ]

I am glad.

[feycarved]

Ah... [It takes him a moment to get what he means-in recent weeks, neither the book nor its owner have even crossed his mind-but when he does, he smiles.]

Well, if you're glad, then I'm glad too.

[halfcarved]

[ Geir returns the smile with a slight one of his own without fully realizing it. ]

Good.

[ He pauses and speaks his next words slowly. ]

I would not want you to miss him.

[feycarved]

[Elijah's smile starts to widen, until he hears what Geir has to say next.]

Ain't no reason why I would.

[halfcarved]

[ There is something there -- relief, perhaps? -- mixed in with firmness when Geir replies again, looking Elijah in the eye. ]/small>

Good.

Yeah... [But...]

You didn't really...think I would, did ya?

[halfcarved]

[ And Geir looks away, back at the rock he has been carving into. ]

I was... uncertain.

[feycarved]

[Oh no Geir, you're not getting out of this.] And what made ya...uncertain?

[halfcarved]

[ Elijah can, at times, be so persistent it's utterly annoying. Geir has a feeling now will be one of those times if he chooses not to answer, so he humors him. ]

A feeling.

[feycarved]

[Elijah's first reaction is along the lines of no shit, but he manages to tamp that down.]

Just a feeling?

[halfcarved]

[ If Elijah had said that, Geir would just ask why Elijah had asked if he already knew the answer. ]

He gave you gifts.

[feycarved]

One. And it weren't like I appreciated it none, neither. [But the fact that Geir is bringing it up again still stings.]

But he was... someone else. [ Someone who wasn't him. ]

Then what do you think I shoulda done, Geir? [He can't keep the words from coming out as a snap.] What do you think I could have done?
