[The feed shows a young man with a head of messy green hair, wearing a
dragon mask. He is seated on the floor with his knees drawn up toward his chest. He is not alone.
A
bright yellow insect, about 4 cm in height, is nestled in his hair, and a
pigeonlike gray bird is perched on his shoulder. The bird and the insect are rather close to each other, but they appear to be getting along well. At intervals, there is a crackle of electricity from the vicinity of the insect, and the young man's hair stands on end. Whenever this happens, the man smiles faintly.
His PORTAL is on his person, in the form of an Xtransceiver. When he moves, and the feed shifts, it shows that he has other companions as well. A
purple cat is nestled in his lap, and
a large foxlike creature is curled around him, protectively.
The young man's attention is fixed on the mirror before him, through which images of a
massive white dragon can be seen. At first, he doesn't appear to be aware that he is being recorded, but when he finally speaks, it sounds as if he's intentionally addressing someone else, so perhaps he does know. His speech is stilted, and his words come very fast, at times running into each other.]
I can see Reshiram before me, but I can no longer hear my friend's voice. I wonder if it's because I wasn't meant to be the hero after all. Now I can both see and feel how mistaken I was. I feel an ache in my chest, as if something has been removed from my heart, and I know that our separation is the cause. [He pauses, glancing down at the fox with a smile.] You're right. We still have each other, and that's important. [After a moment, he laughs and shakes his head, as if at a joke.]
[Then, suddenly sobering, he glances down at his PORTAL, gazing at it directly and intensely.] Except for this division, I don't mind being here, as I had planned to travel as far as I could go, but I don't understand. By whose authority were the King and Queen appointed? My friends and I serve no one. We are free.
