[This little room has grown cluttered over the long months. What once was empty space when she first entered House 9 in the winter has become her own. There is a mobile of bones and feathers hung over the window, herbs hung all around it. She made the mobile herself, and it was the very first item to appear. More bones have followed. Jewelry began ( Read more... )

I wonder why they left. Or how. Perhaps they managed to wake up.

I'm not as unhappy I imagined I would be. [That counts?]

Some have gone and returned again, I do not know what that says for them either.

[Sigh.]

I am glad you have not been unhappy, Blaine.

Perhaps that they weren't really ready to leave.

[A soft smile.] Thanks, Eden. Are you happy here or you want to go back?

It seems strange to think they could truly succeed in either life, with such indecision.

[A thought, not a statement. She looks off quietly.]

I enjoy the city, but I know it is necessary to return where I belong.

Heh, that's true. But who knows maybe there's a higher plan after all this.

You have unfinished business?

Hm. [While she is skeptical of God, she still accepts the idea of kismet, of plans, and webs.] It is beyond me, if there is.

[She does not turn to look at him when she answers the rest of his question.]

I will not forget my daughter for my own happiness, so I suppose I will not have it.

[Blaine doesn't mean any particular god just a general higher being in this case.]Same, but it makes me wonder if we are just puppets for the royalty here.

[Oh, he did not know that.] I understand that decision. How old is she?

[She does not frown, but she agrees, in some ways, has grown distrustful of the established powers as they have failed in certain duties she expected of them.]

If so, we do not know enough about this city to understand why.

[She tucks her hair behind her ear thoughtfully, she had kept her children from Blaine rather purposefully, for some time, but with Shirley and Kelly behind her, she has become more confident.]

Sapphira is two now, soon she will be three.

[People can always be disappointing, no matter what category they fall in. Royalty is never an exception.]

Do you think that we will learn with time?

[Blaine studies her, assimilating the new information. He was not expecting that, but he's glad that she decided to share that information.]

Sapphira is a beautiful name. I hope you two will be reunited again. She could arrive to promenade one day, and you two could be happy here.

[Rulers ruled with iron and fear, there was no room for disappointment in Eden's mind. Error and weakness were invitation to be overthrown.]

Perhaps. A place to begin might be yielded.

[As it was now, it seemed no one knew what to think and no one hand truly tried to use them for anything. Only kept them from what needed doing, and Eden glances at Blaine with a... somewhat melancholy smile. She had been silent about her family, her children, because she had expected it would be... difficult for him to understand her place in all of it.]

It would be good to hold her.

[But there were four more to come after her, and even if they were not Eden's by choice, she would not deprive them for her selfishness.]

[Eden would be surprised on how much of a fail leaders in Blaine world could be sometimes.]

We must wait, pay attention, and see what happens then.

[He might not fully know the implications of that confession, but he understand that it's an important part of Eden's life, and he's not one to judge. He has another reason to find a way out now.]

I can imagine.

Do you want some company or a distraction?

[She nods. At the moment there seemed little to do but wait, to keep busy, and Eden was having no trouble keeping herself busy.]

I would not mind company, if you wish to visit.

[Who knew, maybe the witch's tower house was too creepy for him. Tony certainly thought she was spooky.]

[Same with him.]

I would like to see you in person again, yes. I will be there shortly.

[As long as all the rats/animals are dead and/or inside bottles he's fine with it.]

[All her creatures will stay in their respective bottles and cages, really, they will. She nods pleasantly, heading off to open the front door, maybe sit and wait for a bit.]
