[ There’s an inquisitive face that comes up on the screen, mask and all. However, instead of the usual distressed or annoyed that might’ve happened (though she doesn’t look really happy, either), she’s more… curious. [Eleven's mask is why he stays inside during the day. That and...the fact that he probably wouldn't WEAR a mask if he did go outside, being the Doctor and all.] Something about the queen of the city wanting us to hide our faces so that we're all equal. Which is preposterous, if you ask me, because a queen in a mask is still a queen - just ask Liz. Still, not half as bad as taking away our voices at night. It's amazing they haven't kidnapped more psychologists, actually, because they could certainly use them.

These devices have some sort of basic psychic capabilities built in, actually, to facilitate communication at night - maybe not psychic, per se, just basic brain wave amplification, but psychic is a nice catch-all word. Kind of like magic, which is what everybody's going to throw out as an explanation for everything that happens here. Whether or not you choose to believe it is entirely up to you.
