well it's sunday evening and I'm being lazy, but I have liscence to, 'cause I'm sick. My friend Sarah just let me know today that our church has laid off our youth pastor, Denise, because they say that we aren't in the financial situation to be able to pay her (yet of course, the finance commitee all voted to give themselves hefty raises...) Everyone is upset, especially our parents. Denise has done so much for our church and I wonder why the commitee would do something like that. By doing this, they are turning members away from the church, because I for one KNOW my parents have just about had enough of the ugly politics at Grace, and are ready to head to St. James. Dec. 21st me and Sarah go before the vestry to try and get Denise's job back. Be there if you find it in your heart to help. I'm tired of church hypocracy. They say we as children are the foundation of the next generation, yet they are willing to pull the rug out from under us, and stunt our spiritual growth. When Jesus was preaching to 3,000 he was able to convert the minimal fish and bread to feed all of them. Can't the church find it in their hearts to stretch their financial fish and bread far enough to teach their children about God's love?
Please pray for Denise and that everything goes well on the 21st.
Love, Emily
