“Guess what tonight is!?” Sungmin’s sang out as he entered the apartment. I poked my head out the kitchen door.
“What’s tonight?” I sang back. The smile on his face was wide as he held up a plastic bag with the word ‘Blockbuster’ printed on it.
“It’s movie night!” he sang again, his voice reaching the high octaves. Ryeowook burst out of his room, his face full of excitement as he repeated Sungmin’s words.
Sungmin nodded and Ryeowook grabbed his hands, and started jumping around with him, laughing. I just smiled, pushing the thoughts of Kangin that automatically sprung up in my mind away. When they did couple stuff like that, my mood would always be ruined, but I tried to stop that now. I couldn’t let that stop me from being happy.
“Kangin!” Ryeowook called and Kangin’s door opened in response. He had upgraded to crutches now and he was happy about it. Most people would choose the wheelchair over crutches because crutches are so hard to walk with, but Kangin was eager to get the crutches. Mostly because it meant he could get around by himself and didn’t need anyone to help him as much.
“What!” His tone was angry but he was smiling.
“Guess what tonight is?”
“How could I not know? The whole complex knows.” He started hobbling into the living room with the rest of us, before turning to Sungmin. “Heck, from how loud you yelled the whole city knows by now. Aish, because of you we’re going to get kicked out because of noise complaints.”
“If it wasn’t for me, we wouldn’t have this apartment right now.” Sungmin said, sticking his tongue out. It was true. The owner of the apartment complex had another couple asking him about the apartment and their offer was higher. But Sungmin convinced him that he was a member of a famous boy band and the manager immediately let us have the apartment. Of course, the owner soon learned that he wasn’t from a boy band but due to the law, he wasn’t allowed to kick us out unless we do something against the rules and he couldn’t raise the price.
“What movie are we watching, Minnie?” Ryeowook asked, hooking his arm through Sungmin’s. Sungmin reached into the plastic bag and pulled out the movie. My heart sank when I saw the title and when he smiled and winked at me. The movie in question? The Naked Kitchen.
This movie was full of romance and kissing and an implied sex scene. Great. Movie night didn’t look to good to me any more.
“I’ll go make popcorn.” I said quietly, a smile plastered on my face as I ducked into the kitchen. How dare that sneaky little Sungmin! Making me watch a romantic movie! He knows that these things make me hug the nearest person in sight when it gets lovey. He knows that I cry on the nearest shoulder at these movies! Yet, he still does this! Aish! Ah! I know! I’ll just sit on the couch with Ryeowook and Sungmin, leaving Kangin to the chair where I know he’ll be content to be alone. Then if I need to cry, I can cry on one of their shoulders, like usual.
“Popcorns ready!” I said, happy again as I walked back into the living room, two bowls of popcorn in my hands. As I realized the seating placement, I noticed my plan was foiled. Sungmin had planned it out.
He and Ryeowook were cuddled on the chair, Ryeowook draped across Sungmin’s lap. That left the couch, where Kangin was sitting. Or rather taking up two thirds of the couch. Great. The whole world was against me tonight wasn’t it. He was sitting in the middle of the couch with pillows to his left holding up his bandaged arm while his leg was propped up on the table in front of him. Leaving the right side of the couch to me, where he would be in perfect reach in case I needed a shoulder to cry on. Someone please kill me before Kangin figures everything out.
“Hyung, come sit down, the movies about to start.” Kangin said, looking up at me. I forced a smile and handed Sungmin and Ryeowook a bowl before sitting down on the couch next to Kangin. I offered him some popcorn just as the movie began.

The actors in the movie were pressed against each other, looking each other in the eyes shyly. I looked away, down at the bowl of popcorn kernels in my lap. I started to swish them around, anything to take my mind off the scene and away from the fantasies spring up in my mind. I could hear a giggle and other sounds coming from the tv and shut my eyes humming quietly.
“Teukie hyung, be quiet! This is the best part!” Ryeowook whispered to me, and I slowly quieted my hums as Sungmin chuckled and nudged him.

Oh no. This was way too sweet. I could feel my eyes stinging with tears. The guy in the movie was walking through the parking garage, singing through the speakers that he loved her, while walking toward her. Before I knew it, the tears were spilling out of my eyes and I was sobbing softly. Kangin looked over at me and his eyes grew wide.
“Hyung, are you okay?” He asked, his voice rising.
“It’s just so sweet! You’d never find a guy that would do that.” I blubbered. Now you could see the slight happiness on the girl’s face. “I wish that would happen to me one day.” Kangin sighed and sat back again.
“You’re really weird, hyung.” he breathed. His voice, I would later remember, had a hint of revelation in it, as if he was beginning to figure something out.

Luckily, the movie ended without me crying on his shoulder, or clutching him in giddy happiness for the movie characters. Sungmin and Ryeowook looked disappointed that this didn’t happen and they got up, pouting. I waited until Kangin had gone into his room before I stared at them pointedly.
“I’m onto you too. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to.” I threatened halfheartedly. Their eyes got wide, a little too wide.
“But Hyung, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Ryeowook said. His lip was halfway poked out and his voice was sweeter than sugar. I pulled him and Sungmin into a hug and laughed.
“Go to bed you two.” I said as I released them. They laughed also, knowing they had been figured out and slumped off to their room. Tonight had been an almost disaster. If I would have not held myself back, he could have possibly figured everything out.
