I think you could possibly cover the shoe in matching gold stretch vinyl glued to it (like Diana did for Giorno) and then just put foam on the top portion. I'm not sure how you would handle how the edges of the foam would look on the sides, though. Perhaps you could get some thin black trim and put it over that edge and all the other places there are black lines to make it stand out more and to cover any raw edges at the same time.

Would gluing work on a Lycra boot cover? I can;t glue anything to these shoes as they are on loan.

Hmm. I don't think it would. You may have to handsew it together.

Your suggestion does give me a idea how to use the foam, By just attaching the foam to the sides and not bottom of the boot. The only thing i'm worried about is slipping on the Lycra, and if I can find something to give it tread im worried about the lyrcra slipping away from the boots.

I have good balance, but with 5 inch platform I may not fair too well.

:starts to make list of possible solutions and such:

I'm thinking that maybe if you use double-sided tape on the inside of the lycra that touches the boot at the bottom it may help with the lycra sliding around on the boot. As far as sliding on the ground, there may be either an adhesive you can paint onto the bottom area of the boot cover or you can buy like a piece of plastic and attach it. I'd check some shoe stores and see if they carry anything like that.

Thats a great idea! That should work. I was also thinking for the bottom just taking an old pair of shoes and gluing the bottoms to the bottom of the boot covers. I have some flats that are falling apart anyway.

That would probably work best. I've also seen people just omit the fabric from the bottom of the shoe area and put elastic connecting the sides so it stays on.

I was thinking of that as well, but then I felt the bottom of the shoes, Realized my Uncles used these frequently in the 70s, and thus have less thread than the Lycra now

Then probably gluing the bottom of your other shoes to the lycra will work best.
