[The feed comes on to reveal a blank expression once again.]

It did not take me very long to reach Cherrygrove. I do not understand why it is called Cherrygrove when there are no groves of cherries to be found here. Grooves. Guh-row-vvvs.

[Good evening Johto! It's your favorite weirdo psycho nut job alien again! Ax has made it to and left behind ( Read more... )

Oh, hey. I guess I didn't think about you starting with an Abra. They're kinda hard to train. You can buy a Dream Eater TM in Goldenrod, though. I think you can even order it to be delivered in other towns' Pokémarts. We'll get you hooked up, no worries.

That would be most useful. I shall see about requesting the Dream Eater technical machine in Goldenrod.

[A beat.]

I find it fascinating that Hyperbole's species is capable of sustaining itself on dreams. This is a truly fascinating place. I will have to reevaluate the entertainment value of your video games, even if they are quite primitive for toys.

I'm... not totally sure that's what 'Dream Eater' means. Besides, most of our video games don't have actual worlds hiding behind them. Then again, I didn't think this one did, either. What do I know?

It is rather strange... If we have ended up here then I suppose it is technically possible for someone from this world to have ended up on Earth, creating the game based on their own memories. It does not, however, explain the strange woman in New Bark Town.

Wow, I... totally didn't think about it that deeply.

And you mean 'Mom?' I think that's just... well, in the original game, your character starts off at their own house, and their mom is there. She's kind of a partial tutorial.

It is the most logical explanation. It would be impossible to be drawn into an electronic device and video game, especially one of such low level technology. [You could practically hear the indignant sniff as his Andalite ego came back into play. OBVIOUSLY that has to be the reason, GOD.]

For a tutorial she did not provide very much informtation, the food that she prepared was excellent. However one must wonder how she would conclude that it would be enough for the three day journey-- jurrrrr knee --to the next town.

[ Marco rolls his eyes. ]

Yeah, she was more helpful in the game... she seemed kinda frazzled here. Maybe this isn't supposed to happen; people being sucked into this world. Maybe the natives are just as freaked out as we are.

It seems strange that she would pretend to be the mother of a stranger. Perhaps her behavior is indication that there is something else going on.

[Is it possible that residents of this world are appearaing in the worlds of others too?]

I have spoken with several others from other worlds, though most appear to be human... It seems very odd. There is also the matter of our abilities.[Perhaps the residents of this world are seeking new homes, and that human was one of those left behind.]

I'm pretty sure there are some people around here who weren't human before they arrived. Builds a pretty good case for you not actually being a nothlit. [ He says it casually, but he's no longer looking at Ax.

The idea of the Andalite being a nothlit is way more terrifying than he'll let on, for all kinds of reasons. They don't need two constant reminders hanging around, and not having an Andalite on their side in these battles is a crippling disadvantage, even just strategically. He can imagine how fast Visser Three would catch on if their numbers suddenly decreased. ]

Whatever's going on here, I guess the people who'd know are the ones who've been here the longest. I know a chick who's been here a while; maybe I'll ask her.

[Ax can see your concern by the avoidance of eye contact, a common human expression of guilt, regret, or nervousness. He's been learning a lot in your canon time gap!]

I have considered the possibility as well, and find that to be highly unlikely. Likely, leeeeeee. I have spoken to another alien who has also been turned into a human, and if I truly had become a nothlit that would not explain why you are, presumably, unable to morph as well. It would simply seem that entering this dimension, or world, requires human form. It is similar to when the Elimist summoned us.

[Even if they had been in morph at the time, whenever that intergalactic MEDDLER called for them they'd suddenly be in their own bodies. Diiiiesss. Bod, BAH-DUH. Ax remembers.] So I do not believe there is a reason to be concerned. When we return I am certain that things will return to the way they were.

[A beat here. An ominous beat.]

Marco, what does the word "fuck" mean? I assume it to be human "slang"?

[ That makes sense, and it's more the logic of it than any kind of comforting words Ax offers that ease Marco's nerves. He nods a little, the motion gaining momentum, and is on the verge of a grin when Ax's question makes him jump over the 'grin' rung of the ladder right onto 'laugh.' ]

Oh, uh... yeah. [ He shakes his head, still chuckling. ] It's not a very polite word, but it's a pretty versatile one. You should probably just... avoid it. [ Marco doesn't really want to try to list out all the applicable uses of the f-bomb, and he's pretty sure that doing so would just result in Ax attaching it to random words and phrases, anyway. ]

[He now understands the strange sensation he feels to be that of relief, it's not that different from his Andalite body's reaction.]

I see. Then I will avoid it.

[Hyperbole is suddenly reaching for the gear, which Ax pulls away from his reach carefully, earning a disgruntled noise from the fox-like Pokemon.]

You may say hello, but I will not have you lose my Pok-ee-gear again, Hyperbole. It was most troublesome having it replaced last time.

[ Marco laughs a little at the Abra. ] Hey, little guy. Don't give Ax-man too much trouble; he gets into enough on his own.

[ He then unclips a ball from his belt and releases his own Kadabra, who fusses with his moustache before deigning to look at the 'Gear. ]

This is Copperfield.

[Hyperbole would blink, if, you know, Abras were clearly capable of such a thing, but you can practically see it as his eyes twitch shortly, hand poised for grabbing still. He then lowers his paw back to Ax's head. HE APPARENTLY LISTENS TO MARCO BUT NOT TO AX.]

Copperfield bears a striking resemblance to Hyperbole. Is this what Abra will eventually evolve into?

[Ax looks fascinated and impressed, an instinctive arching of his eyebrows and slight widening of his eyes.]

These are fascinating creatures.

[ Copperfield leans closer to the 'Gear, then reaches for it. Marco lets him have it, and the Kadabra fills the whole screen, his trainer's voice coming from off to one side. ]

Yeah, he's called a Kadabra. Kadabras evolve into Alakazams, but you have to trade them for them to evolve. So sometime after Hyperbole evolves, we can swap, then swap back, so both of them can evolve into their final form.

[Ax examines the face getting closer to the screen, then lets Hyperbole have a look as well. See that? This is what you'll become with some dedicated training little buddy!]

Pokemon are extrordinary creatures, to be able to induce such an extreme change from one species to another simply by transferring ownership. Is it a matter of adaptation, perhaps? Abras, after all, do not seem terribly well equipped to survive in the wild if the only thing they are capable of doing is fleeing from battle.

[You'relosinghimMarco!]
