“Don’t let your mom wait for you, moron.”
“I know.”
…
Kame walked to where his mom is standing and waiting for him. He tried his best not to let a single tear escaped his eyes but failed as every step he took he felt his only wish and dream is coming to life - to be able to see and touch his mother which cruel fate separated him with her for 10 long years.
“Mom..” Kame trailed.
“Kazu-chan..” his mom trailed as she reaches her hand to cup Kame’s wet and warm face and wipe the tears flowing from his eyes, “You’ve grown a lot, ne?” she said as she sniffed.
Kame nodded and wasn’t able to utter a word but instead expressed the overflowing happiness he feels by hugging her mother.
“Why are you crying?” his mom asked sniffing again still not breaking the hug.
Kame smiled, “As if you’re not crying there too.” He then smiled feeling his mom tighten his hug on him, “I miss you so much mom.”
“I really miss you too.” His mom answered before breaking the hug.
[a/n: I’m no good at parts like this really! >.<]
…
“Miyazaki Reiko desu.” Reiko introduced herself when Kame’s mom invited them inside and started to interview her, obviously she’s nervous but somehow happy of the good deed she made.
“Reiko-chan, nice to meet you and I hope my son here is treating you well. Are you classmates?”
Reiko nodded but before she can answer, Kame answered for her, “I’m treating her well! She’s one of the scholars and we’re not classmates’ just schoolmates.”
“Mom, where’s your new husband? Is he treating you well? Are you happy here?” Kame asked as he hasn’t found the owner of the house and all he can see are maids.
“You knew it? His on a business trip right now and don’t worry he treats me like a queen and I am happy here but I would be happiest if you’re with me but I do understand you if you can’t live with me.”
Kame smiled, “I’m sorry if I can’t.”
“You can’t?!” Reiko asked raising her voice in shock, “Sorry. I mean, why?” Kame stayed silent and she got it. “Okay. You don’t need to answer.”
After the somewhat looks like forever staying in the huge mansion, finally Kame decided to go home.
“We’re going.” Kame said and Reiko stood up.
Kame’s mom nodded, “Come back again and bring Reiko-chan with you okay?”
Reiko went out first leaving Kame and his mom near the gate.
“Kazuya,” his mom stopped him for awhile from leaving the gate.
“Hai?”
His mom smiled and watched Reiko who is on her way to where Kame’s car is parked.
“Reiko, what is she to you?” his mom asked.
“HUH?” Kame was shocked and looked at where his mom is looking and found Reiko smiling and waving at them then turned to his mother who met his eyes, “Someone, special.” He answered and run to the car waving good bye to his mother.
His mom smiled as she watch the car took off as soon as she can’t see it any longer she smiled and remember Kame’s somehow confession, “I’m right after-all that you treated her that way.”
…
In the car while on the way home.
“Happy are we?” Reiko asked.
Kame nodded, “Who wouldn’t?”
“I’m happy for you, too.” Reiko said and smiled.
“By the way, thanks.” Kame said not looking at her but obviously he’s blushing.
Reiko smiled, “You’re welcome. I just hope to see you smile more just like this day.”
Kame looked puzzled, “What do you mean?”
“This day, you smiled a lot and laugh a lot too. Though you cried awhile ago and it’s a normal reaction but still you were able to smile right? Yes, you do smile days or months before his day but you’re smile are fake, cover-ups and it really doesn’t reach your eyes but now, you smiled with all your heart. Continue it and you’ll be fine.”
…
After how many days..
Kame knocked on the bathroom for the nth time, “Reiko! Faster or I’ll be late with my appointment!” he knocked harder.
“Just wait will you!” Reiko answered.
“Just what the hell are you doing there inside?!”
Reiko opened the door a little just enough to pop her head out and looked terribly worried and flushing.
Kame raised his brow, “What?! Finish whatever the hell you’re doing there!”
Reiko pouted, “I have a problem!” she mumbled.
“What is it?” Kame asked totally irritated.
Reiko bit her lower lip and lowered her head and answered in a very tiny voice that Kame couldn’t understand.
“WHAT?! Speak properly will you?!!”
“Just promise not to laugh.” Reiko said and Kame nodded obviously how can he laugh when he’s growing late for his appointment with his friends. “I..I have my..period..”
Kame sighed, “Is that all? Then what’s your problem with that? Dysmenorrhea?”
Reiko shook her head quite faster, “I don’t have any pads.” She said and turned redder than an apple.
“So you want me to get it in your room or bag?”
“I don’t have any! Even inside my bag! You have to buy it!”
Kame’s jaw dropped, “You’re kidding?” Reiko shook her head. “Reiko! I’m a man and do you know how embarrassing it is for me to buy a pad?!”
“I don’t care if you’re a man or not but all I know is until no pads will arrive, I’ll stay here inside and never step out! Please?”
After arguing, Kame surrendered and went to buy 3 big packs of the pad that Reiko told him. On the counter, the counter attendant asked him if that’s the only thing he’ll buy.
“Is this all, sir?”
Kame nodded and cursed Reiko in her mind.
…
Kame is totally late for the said appointment because of Reiko but the meeting wouldn’t start without him. As soon as he steps in, he opened the meeting and discussed a lot of things being the President of the Student Council.
“So, that’s final?” he asked to everyone and it seemed no one is against the plan so he declared it, “Then, we shall organize a ball then.”
“Wait.” Eri raised her hand, “Last year, the scholars weren’t able to join because they needed to give a contribution and since they can’t afford it they served as the waiters and waitresses on last year’s cruise party.”
“So, you wanted us to let those poor scholars to join the prom without them giving any cents?” one of student council said.
“Yes. I can’t see anything wrong with that.” Eri defended.
“Mr. President, it would be unfair -“
“They’re joining whether they pay or not and that’s final.” Kame said and closed the meeting and left the room. Everyone looked at him blankly as he left.
Koki stretched his arms upward, “If I remember it right, he was the one who wanted the scholars to give any contributions and if they don’t they won’t join and be waiters or waitresses, right?”
“I guess that’s what you called, The Power of Love.” Ueda said and left and the others followed as well.
…
“BALL?!” Reiko almost choked when Kame told her the year’s event. “How much do we need to pay again for us scholars to be able to join?”
“Free. All scholars meaning including you aren’t required to pay and may join the prom and enjoy it until they wanted.” Kame answered.
“I won’t join.” Reiko said.
Kame stopped browsing the magazine, “You’re not? But it’s free!”
“I know that but I mean I don’t have enough money to buy the dress and all and instead of using the money I earned to just buy those then I will just keep the money. And I suppose, the other scholars will be the same like me.”
“So you mean having you join for free is totally useless because you guys don’t have money to buy for your attire?”
Reiko nodded, “Right but maybe the others have some formal attire for that event so they might come but me, I really can’t.”
Kame scratched his head, “Who told you, you’ll spent a single centavo for your attire?”
Reiko brows furrowed, “What do you mean?”
“I’ll pay for your expenses and all so you have to go.”
“HUH?!”
“That’s final!”
The ball is just a few ticks away and let us see what would happen in the ball.
