The history of each part used to create Gir isn’t really known. Just that they were in the trash just before being tossed together during a moment of desperation from the pair of Almighty Tallest.
Why the moment of desperation? Before Gir’s creation, there was an incident thanks to an Invader named Zim. Zim is part of a race known as the Irken, an imperialistic race of aliens that basically invade other worlds. During an operation, Zim wound up being too excited and attacked his own allies. He was banished to another planet. However he returned on his own after hearing Operation Impending Doom II.
This is when Gir finally comes to be! In order to avoid another screw up thanks to Zim, they made up a fake mission to get him as far away as possible. To keep up pretenses it’s an important mission, they slapped together a SIR unit with parts from the trash. That’s right, the Almighty Tallest went MacGyver with this unit, using a paper clip, a screw, gum, lint and two muniez to construct the brain.
It took them six months, accompanied by Gir singing “doom” the entire way, to arrive on the planet Earth. There they began to learn the customs to blend in order to enslave or destroy the entire human race.
[ Personality ] :
Gir can be very cute, if cute refers to stealing bacon from an upset kid. His affection seems to be limited to just his Pig friend or his Master, Zim. He has hugged Zim a few times because he needed it. His loyalty goes as far as he can live without tacos, which isn’t possible. Gir has followed Dib, Zim’s enemy, merely because he seemed nice. And during the time when Gir’s brain was operating the house, he chose not to obey Zim until he discovered he couldn’t eat tacos. However he will give up his beloved piggy toys to Zim’s plans.
His motivations seem to be about fun and flavor. Gir, being a robot, doesn’t need to eat, but he does so because it’s yummy. He loves making mash potatoes because he gets to mash things. Often he is found watching television or just snacking during his free time. Gir loves dancing, rolling on the floor, slushies, the angry monkey show, waffles, candy, and tacos. He also gets upset when he looses things, such as when he ate his cupcake or when he lost the last rubber piggy to Zim’s plan.
Even if most of the time he’s rather incompetent and shows little signs of making sense, he does have his moments. Gir questioned the wisdom of screwing with the past when Zim was attempting to send a robot back to end Dib. He has adapted to Earth’s ways rather quickly as shown how easily he understands drive-thrus, and conversing with people. He has saved his master numerous times and even responds to the command to attack. He seems to get along with people, as shown when he did tag along with Dib and the creepy kid who was latched on to Zim.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Gir can make the bestest as well as the weirdest waffles ever!
If his fuel tank is full, he can fly using the jets in his feet.
His body is built like a thermos. It keeps things hot or cold depending on the temperature of the item placed in.
Zim has installed basically a GPS in Gir, but he tends to forget he has it or will remove it to store something else in the space.
Despite being filled with weapons that come out when he is ordered to attack, his body actually has tons of storage for his toys and food.
Gir can shoot lasers from his eyes.
He has X-ray vision.
Tacos are a major weakness. At the mention of them he will go to great lengths to acquire them.
His disguises are poorly made. Often the stitching is painfully obvious and there will be patches of another color randomly in places, like the skin.
