Work
Right, I need to explain a few things in order to rant about today.
I got a job in a solicitors in St Helens September 2009, as a Graduate Clerk to the Commercial solicitor. However, whilst I was training, I was given to the Conveyancing solicitor to utilise and train. All the better for her, coz the week after I started, her fee earner revealed she was pregnant! So I was learning and surprised that I loved it, and when we moved buildings I settle onto the floor assisting Alison and Yvette, doing Mike's photcopying and building myself up for when I was given the Debt Recovery files to handle ON MY OWN!
Yvette went on Maternity Leave, and I was given my files! I have like 60-odd files that my Boss wanted me to work through and give him a report on each one, and what I thought should be done next! In the meantime, I was settling the last of Yvette's files!
AND, now we'd moved over the road, the Probate ppl started giving me stuff too!
I've drafted Wills, Oaths, Remunerations...and I'm enjoying it! Sue is fabulous, and Geoff is a Deputy District Judge and he's computer-phobic and just dead dry!
So, the other day (Monday), Alison had a meeting with the Boss about financies, and commented that she didn't think it was fair that her department was paying for me, when I wasn't ONLY working for her, and wasn't originally hired to work for her!
When the split that was offered still didn't suit (as she was still paying for MOST of me)she said that as of the Next day, she wouldn't be using me anymore. So this week, I've done JUST probate still, and my debt files.
Boss had been on @ me and Sue about the Debt stuff, she was meant to have a meetin with him today ...he was too busy.
In the meantime, yesterday Sue B came down from upstairs to speak to me, wanting to know what I do, and then saying Sue and Geoff could do the stuff they give me themselves!!
So, seems shes said the same to Nick.
I got called into his office today, and asked if Sue had spoke to me. Thinking he meant MY floors Sue, I went on about what work I'd been doing for her. Then he told me that the 2 dudes who'd recently come sat opposite me had been singing my praises! Saying how good I am with clients! I was dead chuffed, but then he added that thy thought I was perfect for their Financial Irregularities Dept!!
That means I'm going upstairs!!

And Mr Bates - the pratty partner!!
And Shelley Naughton - who I thought I'd left behind @ MTGS, only to have to put up with her last year on the LPC!
My Sue isn't very happy - she said she was gonna speak to Nick tomorrow!
She's annoyed that after re-jigging her finances to fit me in, he didn't even have the balls to tell her. As she said, he's been in and out of her office all day; why didn't he tell her?!
I'm just annoyed, and more than a little upset.
I really like where I am, and didn't really want to go up into Litigation until I had to!
But, as I said to Nick, although I'm happy where I am, he's the Boss.
