So, obviously blogging as a form of studying didn't work out so well. But a lot has happened, both good and bad this term, and a week from today I will be 21!
My sister got a DUI last month, she was attempting to kill herself and drove into a phone pole. I am very thankful she was physically alright. Even though it was really an unfortunate awakening for my family, I am really thankful that it opened my parents eyes, and she is now getting the help she needs to lead a healthy life.
I started my internship at Looking Glass New Roads working with the homeless youth of Eugene. I was really scared when I first started there. I felt like I wouldn't know what to talk to them about, that they would think I was a stuck-up bitch for having luxuries in my life, and that I was weak because I don't have the same survival skills that they do. Surprisingly, the youth are really fun and interesting to be around. They give me crap, just like you guys do, but it's all in fun, and they're no different from the people I know who have homes--I guess... that seems obvious, but it's taken me this whole month to see it.
Mostly, I am excited about finally turning 21! I don't know what the plans are yet, I don't even know that I'm making any, but we're starting with dinner at the Eugene City Brewery so I can take advantage of my free Rogue Nation beer, and a delicious Kobe burger. At some point we'll end up dancing, and that's all I know. I hope to see everyone there!
