In which there is relaxing and vacationing.

Ruby stretched slowly on the bed, shifting so that she was curling into Sam a little more and tilting her head up a bit to watch him sleep for a while. It had taken a few days, but he was finally actually sleeping -- not the sleep of the exhausted and overstressed, but the sleep of the fully relaxed. The sleep of someone who had very few cares on their mind and was just looking for the required deeper relaxation that sleep would bring. It reminded her of a time when they were both younger -- when getting Sam to sleep was a feat in and of itself, still, but things were simpler for him then. He had less worries on his mind, less responsibilities on his shoulders, and just slept so much easier.

She almost missed those days, sometimes. Not that she would give up her son for anything, but she missed the younger Sam. The Sam who still looked forward to waking up in the morning, and starting another day, as oppose for being so tired that he would welcome death. And while she knew that there were things about Sam that weren't natural, and were wrong -- there were reasons humans didn't live as long as the demons and angels did. But she was grateful to still have him, and the things he'd given her. She just wished she could find a way to keep him going without burning himself out.

Sighing softly, she relaxed against him, closing her eyes again and waiting patiently for him to wake up.
