Stay
Summary: UNENDING SPOILERS Daniel and Vala one night aboard the Odyssey
Note: Another Unending one-shot along the same lines as my previously posted “Our Life If” - this one set a little over a year in
Spoiler Warning: Again, this is set during Unending so definite spoilers for that episode.

Stay
As usual, Vala waited until Daniel seemed to have drifted off to sleep before carefully disengaging herself from his arms. She sat beside him in the dark for a moment, looking fondly at his face - a face she had come to know so well and that had come to be so dear to her.
With a contented sigh she placed a light kiss on his forehead before standing. She pulled on her tank that had landed haphazardly on the desk chair and was searching the floor for her pants when she heard his quiet voice behind her.
“Hey.” She picked up her pants before turning to look at him. He was still lying on the bed, his arms now behind his head as he watched her. “Don’t you think it’s time you just, stayed?”
Vala paused, unmoving. “Stayed?”
“Yes, stayed. As in, not going back to your room in the middle of the night.” There was another long pause. Vala held her pants in both hands in front of her chest, chewing her bottom lip.
“You want me to stay?” she asked finally.
“Well, it has been over a year, Vala.” She shook her head.
“Not what I asked.” After another pause he sat up and held his hand out to her.
“Come here.” She hesitated before taking his hand and sitting beside him on the edge of the bed. He dropped her hand and cupped her face in both hands, turning her toward him and kissing her tenderly. He pulled back to look at her. “Yes. Yes, I want you to stay.” She exhaled a breath she hadn’t been aware she was holding, tears shining in her eyes. She nodded.
“Okay.” He smiled.
“Okay. We’ll move your stuff tomorrow? Or better yet, we’ll both move. A new room for a new life. How does that sound?” In response she kissed him and they fell back on the bed once again, all thoughts of her returning to her room alone extinguished for good.
