What to these characters have in common?
They're dolls. Dolls made with Innocence for one single purpose: to dance and entertain.
Martel falls, and the dolls - the pieces of Innocence - are scattered. One by one, they are recovered by the Black Order, nothing more than broken conglomerations of wood and metal joints. One by one, the Innocence within them is reactivated.
One by one, they come alive again.
Their goal is no longer to entertain.
It is to hunt down Akuma and destroy the Earl and the Noah clan.
They are The Black Order's weapons, equivalent to the Akuma, and they will stop at nothing until their mission is completed.
The Dolls are moving because of the Innocence inside them. They are no longer pieces of wood glued or screwed together. After being repaired by the dormant Innocence, their existence is Innocence. Their "skin", a very realistic and thin shell created by the Innocence, gives off a pale green glow in the dark and, when activated, provide more power to the Innocence they wield.
These are not the only Dolls in the world-- just the ones that have been together the entire time until they were eventually separated.

We won't limit canonmates to the Dolls, either. Picking up a support character (Hevlaska and Komui are very important to the Dolls) is fine, too!
