Getting online at my mom's means using dialup. The PC is very much Bro's territory, so what I do is put my laptop on the floor, get a cushion to make me comfortable, hook the phone cable to the laptop, then lie down on my stomach, legs crossed at the ankles.

Apparently my cat Tatam thinks this position is a good opportunity to cuddle up, either that or he suddenly realizes there's a new, incredibly thick, plush, warm carpet he can crawl onto. In any case, each time I start getting online, very soon I will feel paws touching my back tentatively, one, then two, then an added weight as Tatam eases himself onto my back, then him standing on my back, before lowering himself, finding that comfortable folded position that cats seem to have the knack for, then he goes quiet, snoring gently. Like now. :)

This reminds me of Bumbum, a cat I had years ago. He was a very affectionate little tom, but sickly. The vet said he had a nervous condition that required him to take daily dosage of vitamin B1, otherwise he would not be able to lift his head up and he would walk in this bizarre fashion, head down, like a bull ready to ram, and he never could walk very far. That day when I took him to the vet, I had to leave him in the clinic for a couple of hours because I had to teach while the vet diagnosed him. When I came to fetch him, he meowed in his little cage, and when I called him, he came to me, climbed onto my lap, all the way up to my shoulder, his claws snagging on my headscarf, then snuggled there, on the crook on my neck... *sniffs, wipes eyes* Bumbum liked to wake me up in the morning by sniffing my face, licking my cheek and nose and the corner of my mouth. He also liked to sleep on my tummy. I would go to sleep at night alone, and in the morning I would find him curled on my belly, his head on my breast. He was a bit on the heavy side, and having him on my chest made breathing rather a chore, but I never complained. It was the best way to wake up: looking up at a cat fast asleep, warm and purring, legs twitching, on my belly.
