Who would've thought -- aphthous stomatitis = hospitalization?

Firstly -- did anything newsworthy happen while I was away? Fandom-wise or just anything.

Anyway. Thursday, I went to the otorhinolaryngologist (ear, nose, throat doctor) because the damned ulcer was hurting like a bitch (see previous entry). Waited for eons, decided to file a sick leave since my shift was starting and I've yet to see the doctor.

Result of the examination: I was apparently too swollen, bordering on having cellulitis (apparently she hadn't seen an oral ulcer cause swelling like mine) and so she wanted me to check in the hospital and be bombarded by IV antibiotics overnight. I honestly didn't mind, other than what others -- my co-workers, to be exact -- might think. An aphthous stomatitis/oral ulcer doesn't really necessitate a hospitalization!

I got admitted in the hospital early evening. Damn, the IV insertion HURT, and I normally don't mind needles. Compared to getting your blood drawn for tests, this one hurt more. And the intern was all "just don't look, you're making me nervous" because she knew I was a nurse and...yeah.

We still didn't have a helper then, so first night in the hospital was spent alone. I wasn't scared, strangely, because to be honest? At the age of 21, I'm still pretty much scared of being alone at night and of the dark. But I slept (okay, so not too soundly, but I still slept without feeling nervous at all) without the TV on. I did have the lights on though. Hee.

Anyhoo, so the overnight stay turned out to be a three days-and-three-nights stay, with me only getting out this afternoon. I had an IV until late afternoon yesterday, and it was so annoying having to cart an IV stand around when I have to go pee. And with an IV, I went to pee as much as three to four time every eight hours and that's a friggin' lot for someone who has to keep getting out of bed, pull the IV stand, yada yada.

I go back to work Wednesday because I have to go see my doctor again for a check up on Tuesday. The pain is considerably less and my face doesn't look all convoluted, with one side all puffed and the other, well, not. The pain's still there, but it's not the constant throb-and-sting combination that makes me want to cry.

Other things -- I didn't bring my laptop (thinking I was only going to be there for 24 hours) so I was nearly bored to death.

- Watched a LOT of Animal Planet and National Geographic. They featured a lot of gorillas (cute!), I saw one about tigers (love them! Where are the lions?), one about baboons (now why won't those creatures be the one getting killed by poachers?) and an interesting thing about human evolution
- Didn't get to see Dexter's Lab. Hmph.
- No interesting movies. Guh.

So again, I ask -- anything newsworthy happen while I was away? :)

feeling 100% is not my current state, hospitalization sucks
