But first, a rant:
I was anxious to get home because it was hot, I was hungry, and I had new books, so I hailed the first cab that came and jumped in. The driver was an old man who was wearing white shorts and his cab smelled of cigarette smoke. I tried to open the window to let the carcinogenic smoke out, but the window's busted. Pft.
And then this driver is the stupidest thing, telling me that if we enter the subdivision, the guards would get his license (security purposes) and I was YEAH, I KNOW and he was all 'well, if you plan to just pass through this place, then it won't work because they'd get my license' and I was so annoyed I nearly said "who said we're going to pass through?! I fucking live here." except that wouldn't be polite because he's an elderly man after all.
What pissed me off the most was the cigarette smoke. It just wouldn't get out of the car, even with my window already open (about an inch). Then I spotted curls of smoke consistently emanating from somewhere near the driver's wheel and I was growing livid. Smoking inside an enclosed area?! The second-hand smoke could fucking kill me and get me lung cancer, for fuck's sake.
Worst of this is how my hair absolutely smelled horrific after getting out of the car (thank heavens it was only a 3 to 5-minute ride). I immediately went for a shower (none of my usual lazing around the couch to check my purchased books) because I swear, the smell of hair makes me think I could probably get the beginning of lung cancer by just smelling at it.
So the books! I have an interview tomorrow as I've said, so I went and prepared for it by getting a new book. I'm scheduled for a 10 AM interview, but you just gotta know how it is here with time. I am definitely going to wait for a while before they interview me. I mean, for example, yesterday: I was scheduled for an interview at 9 AM, so I was there early at around 8:30 AM, but I got my interview at 10 AM. =\ So yeah. I hate waiting, so I need something to preoccupy myself so I won't think at how long they're making me wait.
Anyway. I went to Powerbooks first because it's a nice bookstore (National Bookstore is now my last resort whenever I need to buy a book) and they have quite the number of books
you guys have rec'ed me two months ago
here. They hadn't failed me the first time I went, but today was a disappointment. I only found two books there which are already quite common (for me, this means they have more than one book in their stocks) so I was trying to hold off buying them in case I find one that is like, the only remaining book there is in their stock.
So I headed to Fully Booked and was disappointed to find out the same thing. The Dianna Wynne Jones books they have didn't interest me, the Diana Gabaldon books were the third, fourth, or fifth books in the Outlander series and nothing else. I decided to just get Matthew Pearl's Dante Club (is it any good, BTW? I'll go and get that next soon.) when I thought, hey, maybe they have Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of Avalon!
I wasn't expecting for anything but OMG, they did. Except it was way beyond my budget; my parents cannot fathom why we should buy a book that is nearly Php1000, and I was going to use their money, so. I clutched it and internally 'ooh-ed' and 'ahh-ed' at it and really wanted to have it, but mom wouldn't allow me. I went back to the shelves, trying to find out where the bookstore person found it, because I have gone through their entire General Fiction shelves and I didn't see it!
Of course, Gemma is the stupidest person and did not bother to check the 'Sci-Fi/Fantasy' section where, when I found it, made me want to jump around and squee with glee. Because there, I found David Eddings' Pawn of Prophecy, Frank Herbert's Dune, his son's (based on his notes, so it said) Dune: House Atreides and other Dune-related books, and the one that made me want me to scream YES!!! because I've been looking for it forever and ever? Dianna Wynne Jones' The Dalemark Quartet! Finally. Yesyesyesyes.
And OMG, I forgot to say this but THANK YOU thankyouthankyouthankyou
galenalistova for the Narnia bookmarks! I got them weeks ago (just kept forgetting to mention it) and I have used them in the last two books I've read. XD THANKS! ♥
Random: My face stings because of that horrible soap my dermatologist made me use. It's making my skin flake and shed, I'm like a snake. I can't look like this the day before an interview! Curses.

You scored as Iceman. Iceman is a very powerful but volitile X-man. His ego and reluctance to follow orders means that he often clashes with Cyclops. Despite being immature sometimes, he's very popular with the ladies and is an extremely powerful X-Man. Powers: Can lower the temperature in areas around him. Basically, he has a near limitless ability to freeze things and make massive amounts of ice.

QuizFarm.com ETA: For anyone who has seen and watched Gokusen -- the episode we're being shown right now is the episode with Nakashima's stepson, after the Sawada Shin episode(s) where he gets in trouble because of his sister. Anyway, I was watching yesterday and was wondering why he seems to be staying until really late at night (because Tetsu and Minoru fell asleep except for the grandfather) in Kumiko's house. I missed the latter half of the Shin episode, so can someone please tell me what is happening? Thank you. XD
