Kirsten Dunst header tutorial

Oct 01, 2007 17:19

it's been soo long! I am so very sorry; i've been working on photo retouching lately, and coursework and other stuff! But I'm back now :) and along with a new tutorial! a bit more 'toned down' in my opinion; but i like the result!
anyway, onto the fun :)

going from
to

+ 2 Selective colouring (not translatable)
+ Easy

+ Open a new canvas; I used 500x400
+ Paste in your picture, resize and place
+ Create a new colour fill layer: #FCFF00, set to softlight 100% (
)
+ Selective colouring:

Reds: -100 / 0 / +100 / 0
Yellows: -49 / 0 / -100 / 0
Neutrals: +100 / -12 / -13 / +33
Blacks: 0 / 0 / 0 / +42

Reds: +83 / -29 / 0 / 0
Yellows: -44 / +100 / -100 / +6
Greens: -100 / +100 / -100 / +100
Neutrals: +15 / +12 / +17 / -2
Blacks: 0 / 0 / 0 / +41

+ Colour Balance layer: +36 / -5 / -8
+ Hue / Sat layer: Saturation: +35
+ I then clicked back on my Colour Balance layer and erased the background around Kirsten
+ Now I made her eyes brighter! Click back on your base layer and using the circular marquee tool, select one of her eyes and go to Edit - Paste. Set to Screen 40%
+ Repeat this with the other eye
+ Click back to your base, and using the Burn Tool on about 20% brush; go lightly round her eyes to give them a bit more depth
+ I then created a photo filter by (look at the bottom of your layer panel and click the black + white circle) selecting Photo Filter, and on changing the scroll box to 'Blue'. Set this layer to 70%. It just tones down the yellows a bit
+ Now the box! Create a new 'Rounded Rectangle' shape; using #848484 as the colour
+ Add the text 'Kirsten' on a new layer, positioned over the shape and add a 'Drop Shadow' by double clicking on the layer palette, and selecting the DS check-box.
+ Repeat with 'Dunst' in a new layer, so the text overlaps. I didn't add a Drop Shadow on this
+ I then added this texture by restless-dreamz, desaturated it and erased the bits I didn't want. Set this layer to Darken 100%
+ Then added a circle brush by another_trauma and removed the unwanted bits
+ Finished!

I'd love to see your results if you used this! Ask me anything if you don't understand; And please comment =]
