Now everyone is back from Pennsic and sharing their tales, and I'm really wanting to go dress up and have fun, too. I've spent the past few weeks reading about clothing and adornment from various cultures and time periods and making lists of all the various costume pieces I can make. I find that I'm leaning farther and farther away from most of the European styles and more towards near eastern and Persian garb. I imagine, however, that I'll probably have a wide variety of outfits ranging from the fancy Persian robes or long gowns for low-impact days, and trousers and simple tunics for more active days, with the ocasional wenches' bodices and skirts thrown in because they're fun. I highly doubt anything I make will adhere to being strictly period, but the sca really just wants a reasonable attempt made so as to not interfere with others' suspension of disbelief, and I can do that.
And I've finally, FINALLY, gotten around to cleaning my craft room. A big cleaning and reorganization. I took out all of the boxes and threw stuff away, and went out and bought big rubbermaid bins and I'm going through each and every box and organizing things in such a way that I'll actually have a hope of finding them in the future, and putting them clear out of the way when I don't need them. It's a big project, and it will take a while, and in the meantime the livingr room is piled with the boxes from the craft room. I so look forward to actually having space and organization, though. And I even more look forward to all the crafty projects I can do when it's done!
