I've been spending an abnormal amount of time outside on my balcony lately...
It's a very peaceful and relaxing feeling to sit there in the late afternoon until sunset.
Watching a lone cloud disappear into the blue background.
Contemplating where you were a year ago...two years ago...five even!
There is something so beautiful about watching the sunlight slowly fade on a warm evening.
The slightest breeze in the air that picks up a strand of your hair and brushes it against your cheek.
Some soft music coming from somewhere nearby, but barely audible.
As you close your eyes all your troubles seem to dissolve with time.
You suddenly wake up and you realize that hours have passed.
You walk inside, take a long shower and fall into bed.

**I've been asked to write for my friend's Reflections Column in
Adoption Today once again. (I also wrote for the May 2004 edition) She needed something short and to the point. Here is my response:
“What is the single most important thing you would like people to know about adoption?”
There is no road map to success when adopting a child. Just like there is no definitive way to determine how any child will succeed. You deal with every step as you get there. No, it’s not wrong to try to plan ahead. However, consider that you are not a failing parent/child if the results are not what you expected. Life is full of things we do not plan, but it doesn’t stop us from living it.
