I never do anything special for my birthday, but they do something for everyone's birthday at work, so on Friday we had pizza delivered [we normally go to a restaurant, but I think that's happening next week since it's between mine and someone else's birthday] and I got a funny card signed by everyone [one of us designers always makes the card, we joke that we are the hallmark department now.] Then at night I had the usual 'birthday dinner' with family, and I got money, more money, a pretty sweater, a little more money, and the Indiana Jones DVD box set. Good stuff. And my mom made the best cake ever.
Today was spent with JP because he practically insisted on coming to see me even though he should have been working/studying... We wasted most of the afternoon around the big giant mall downtown, almost got lost a little, I got ideas for a few Christmas presents, and I also took him to a store that is a division of the company I work for, since he mentioned that he needed some new stuff and I get a 30% discount there. Found a nice sweater and pants that both look super good on him.
In the evening we were planning on going to eat at a place where we could watch the hockey game (Habs/Kings), which was right next to the Bell Centre, where they were playing... It was like 10 minutes before the game started, and there was a scalper out there trying to sell his last few tickets, so all of a sudden we ended up in the Bell Centre with two good seats, which we got for their regular price cause the guy just wanted to get rid of them at that point. haha. We were front row in section 306, which is a great view of everything. I wanted to pay my own ticket, but he decided it was going to be part of my birthday present [the other part was an HMV gift card, which I will most likely use on DVDs, though I'm not sure which yet.] It was a great game, and the Habs won which made it even greater, especially after their damn four game losing streak.
Afterwards we ended up near the Paramount and I checked to see if Walk the Line was playing, which it wasn't for some strange reason, but we saw that Aeon Flux was just starting so we decided to go see that... It was pretty good, and Charlize Theron looked extra hot with black hair. Too bad there was this annoying middle-aged couple next to me who kept whispering, smooching, or digging into a box of Glossettes during the quiet parts. I had to bite my lip not to yell at them at one point.
Now I am home, and typing this when I should be sleeping... Bed, here I come.
