On Tuesday I went to see Dillinger Escape Plan / HORSE the Band / Between the Buried and Me / Hella...
It was supposed to start at 8:00, but somehow I had a feeling it would start earlier, so JP and I got there around 7:30, right when HORSE were going on stage. Talk about good timing. They were awesome and hilarious and I'm so glad I finally got to see them. I'm definitely not missing them if/when they come back.
After their set we found our friend, who was trying to buy HORSE merch with a $100 bill, haha. The merch guy was like, "dude, I cant' change that", so he went to the bar and bought JP a beer in order to get change. I got the DEP shirt with the tiger on it and the "HORSE the band, bitch" shirt which I've wanted for so long now... Of course, later on I noticed that DEP had a cute girl's shirt with a kitty on it, and I kicked myself for not seeing it before I bought the other one. I also regret not getting the DEP bag. I'm always such a moron when it comes to buying band merch.
Anyway, BTBAM played next... I have to admit, I enjoyed them a little more live than I did on their albums (although I still thought they were pretty boring to watch), but after two or three songs I had to get out of there because my earplugs were malfunctioning or something and I couldn't take the loudness anymore. I came back for Hella, and after a while I ended up downstairs again, trying to get my goddamn earplug to fit properly. JP got me a different kind that my left ear just didn't like, for some reason. At least I managed to get it in properly for DEP.. I don't know if their sound was also lower, but it was just perfect for me.
And, holy shit, they were even better live than I expected. Such a great band to watch, I wish I hadn't missed them the other times they came here. Greg said their merch guy, Paolo, was Italian and looking for someone to marry so that he could stay in the country, haha. "even if you're a dude, he won't mind." ..I should have offered to marry him in exchange for some merch or something. He was hot, too... Ramon, you should go for it when you see them. It's not Greg, but it's close enough.
Wow, I only seem to update this thing when I go to a show, nowadays... I suppose there are other things I could ramble about, but then I get lazy.
...and I still want that bag. Fuck.
