I just watched the Japanese version of Lucifer and no, I'm not going to cry and moan about how it was different. It's a different language. Of course they can't directly translate it. They try their hardest to make a transliteration that fits with the mood and the beat, but honestly poetry and lyrics are meant to heard/read in the language they're written. So much is lost in transl(iter)ation.
But what did strike me was Key and Taemin. Both boys are looking much slimmer than when they shot the Japanese version of Replay, especially Taemin. (Also, it's really obvious from the Hallyu Wave Concert, if you see the stills.) It just makes me wonder if SM is planning on bringing them back to Korea for an album, considering the weight loss and image change is usually synonymous with comebacks.
This also brought up the thought --> Do Koreans like their boys skinner than Japanese fans?
Another thing I noticed is that Onew is styled to look younger than he is in "Replay", bringing up another question on whether Korean fans prefer a younger, more innocent image of the leader. Same with Minho in a way. He's added a teeny tiny amount of weight to his frame. It may just be muscle, but it also makes him look younger, so I'm wondering if the target groups in the two countries are not the same. Seems almost as if the Japanese styling is meant to be more mature than the Korean.
It all just makes you wonder.
At least Jonghyun doesn't look too different. (Thank the lord. Please don't screw with how good Jonghyun is looking, SM.)
As a last thought, though, I swear I don't know how he does it, but Key manages to make every/any outlandish styling he's given fierce. Boy's got charisma pouring out of his veins.
Last minute thought: I just read the Japanese lyrics and they're definitely different. The Korean lyrics focus on being chained down while the Japanese lyrics focus on being caught between two very different choices and not knowing how to choose, almost as if they're saying 'I know it's wrong to choose you(girl) but I can't help myself'. I like the interpretation, but it's a bit creepy. This version is definitely more 'satanic'.
