Title: Life As We Know It
Challenge:
crossgendrabble Draco Malfoy/Rose Weasley - prompt: Malfoy Manor Library
Word Count: 218
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Kissing! Scorpius/Rose-ness. Draco envying his son.
Rose whispers quietly into Scorpius ear as they lean closer and closer together, the studying they were doing for next year’s N.E.W.Ts forgotten. Its cold in the library and the warmth of another draws them in. Scorpius runs a hand down her arm and takes her hand, bringing it his heart. There’s an underlying promise in that simple gesture, something that only they know.
From the doorway into the Manor’s library, Draco watches the slim redhead entice his son, lure him into a kiss. He frowns at the way her eyes stay open, searching Scorpius face as if to take it all in and wants to remember it forever, and then those dark eyes are sliding closed and they’re leaning in further. He turns away, the swish of his cloak drawing their attention, but he does not say anything to them and neither do they speak to him. They know better than to make up excuses and he knows better than to dissuade them from a relationship.
They’re at a stalemate. Draco cannot approve whole-heartedly, she is nothing more than a half-blood, and they cannot pretend they don’t have something Draco envies. A love that is stronger than blood. So they remain silent and that moment in the library slips away, to be forgotten and remembered another day.
