My Daughter's Theatrical Debut

C did such an awesome job as Annie last night! I was so proud of her. We video taped it & once there's time I'll put it up on youtube - mostly for far-flung family, but I'll post it here for any of you who care to see.

I mean, we're not talkin' Broadway or anything, here. These are a bunch of 5-8th graders putting on a school production. Without scenery. Or, in some cases, props (the missing one's were pantomimed). And there were some rather dramatic tech issues involving the body mics. And most of the line delivery was more of a race to the finish than actual acting. But you could tell that they all worked really hard, and it had some great moments, especially the orphans' numbers, and of course Annie's (she really did shine, I swear - I'm not just a proud mama). And with no budget and limited experience, the school's choir teacher did a bang-up job. And most important, the girl has been bit by the theater bug. Only a couple days ago she was complaining about how long and boring the rehearsals can be, but after last night she's ready to audition for another show!

And it was funny - in the first couple minutes, my mom leaned over and said "you know, in that wig, she really does look exactly like you."

proud mama, theater
