Ok, so a month ago I had what I thought was a virus - 100.5 fever, aches, chills, exhaustion, a little tummy trouble a day or so later. I remember going to the doctor and them asking me when my last period was, because I remember telling them "now." It was toward the end, the really heavy part.

Would have thought nothing of it, EXCEPT....

My first instinct says a borderline anemia compounded by stress. I would suggest getting a CBC and a TIBC (total iron binding capacity). If you are sure you don't want to have lab work done, then start taking some over the counter iron. I do best with ferrous gluconate as opposed to ferrous sulfate which can cause constipation. Up your dietary intake of dark green leafies and blood-containing (red) meats. If you don't do meat then really up the dark green leaves. So many woman are borderline anemic which then becomes more acute when we bleed heavy. Acute or spikes in anemia feel like mild flu not just tiredness as most people assume. If the iron does not improve it, it may be that you have enough iron but it's not binding properly to the red blood cells which is another kind of anemia (hense the TIBC).

Oh, yeah, and cups rock! I cannot imagine using anything else.

Ha! I had the bloodwork done, back when I first went to the doc about being tired. He did the blood panel and the sleep study. I am, in fact, borderline anemic. I tend to be lax about taking my multi, but maybe I'll get back on the stick. Also picked up a bottle of Rhodiola today because it works so well on stress & I currently have so many balls up in the air as to be utterly stupid. Fortunately my boss is patient.

Doesn't explain the random fevers, though.

Do you remember the first time you used your cup? I was all like "wow, this is the best period I've ever had!"

What my doctor told me is that women who are borderline anemic on the blood tests are probably more anemic than that because the tests are geared for "normal" and where you might feel good and what is normal for you is high normal. It's actually normal to have fluctuations in body temp while you are bleeding, ovulating, etc. 100.5 is not really high. A true fever due to infection would be anything over 101. But in conjunction with 'borderline' anemia already diagnosed, and the aches and fatigue, I'd say get back on your multi consistently and get the iron. Ferrous sulfate or gluconate is the only thing that will work on anemia.

Actually Z first introduced me to the cup. It's all good.
