I've read articles with recipes for "natural home cleaners" and such, but I was always like...ew (I HATE the smell of vinegar). Tonight I was reading one of my frugal-living newsletters and I came across a recipe for an easy stain remover for countertops. We have had a red Kool-Aid ring on our counter for I don't know HOW long, and I thought, oh, what the hell, we've got the ingredients. Why not?
I mixed about a tablespoon of baking soda with a squirt of lemon juice and stirred to make a gritty paste, and I spread it on the stain (which, by the way, had not been removed by any of the cleaners we've tried). I left it there while I washed a few glasses, and I wiped it off with a wet sponge.
IT'S GONE! It really worked! I'm so surprised, and I feel kind of stupid for not trying it sooner since it was so simple. I'm thinking of all sorts of stains I want to put it on around the house now. I'm definitely hitting the bathroom with it next.
Have any of you got a tried and true homemade miracle cleaner that you have found works well? If so, do share. :) I'm tired of being hard-headed and I'm willing to try new things.
