Hmmm
Saw Napoleon Dynamite last night. We got it from Netflix after my friend Paula recommended it to us as "fucking hysterical!"
Hubby and Wiggle and I just sat there looking at the screen, then back at each other, repeatedly, for an hour of it without a single laugh (though hubby snickered a bit when Napoleon smashed himself in the crotch with the bike, because hubby said the jerk deserved it). What was funny about this movie? Nothing as far as we saw. We turned it off a bit under an hour into it. I had lost enough time to that awful film.
I must say, I like some pretty lowbrow, stupid humor (I giggled my ass off at Me, Myself & Irene, and at Weekend at Bernie's, for example), but there was nothing FUNNY about this movie. It was just a jerk with a compulsive lying habit squinting his eyes and having a temper tantrum at people, wandering around with a bunch of characters from stereotype land. WTF?
Ugh. Sending that crap back to Netflix with a 1-star rating. I'd give it zero stars if I could. I'm just glad I didn't pay 10 bucks to see it at the theater. I've only walked out of one movie in my life (Hellraiser, thank you very much), but I think this would have been the second.
