(Most UN-)Lovely way to end the day

Tonight Boobah refused dinner but we got him to eat a bowl of cottage cheese, then he had some cake and ice cream for hubby's birthday. Around midnight, we heard the muffled noise of him crying and Wiggle talking to him. Then a minute later the door was snatched open and came the worried cry of, "MOMMMM! _(Boobah)_ THREW UP!"

I ran in to see that Wiggle had turned on the overhead light and Boobah was sitting up in bed clutching his Silky (his comfort-blanket) and his quilt, both were covered in vomit, and he was sobbing. The bed was FULL of it, seriously. I yelled for mr_illuminated, who had just fallen asleep, to come help me clean this up. It was already all over his sheets, two pillows, and even on the carpet at his bedside. I did not know one 4-year-old's stomach could HOLD this much food, much less kick it back out at once.

I dashed off to the linen closet, and hubby sent Wiggle to me for a towel to wrap Boobah in so he could carry him to the bathroom without messing up his own pajamas. I tossed towels at Wiggle, and then ran back to the kids' room to strip the bed, because the whole upstairs of the house already REEKED of vomit. As I came down the hall I saw that hubby was carrying my little guy, and poor Boobah was vomiting the whole effing way and crying his lungs out. *headdesk* Did I mention our entire house is carpeted? Yeah, the landlady even carpeted the KITCHEN, which hubby had to take the kid through to get to the bathroom, so now the mess was EVERYWHERE.

I did not know where to start. I'm sorry if I gross anyone out, but I looked around and there was liquid chocolate, pineapple tidbits (from breakfast??), and cottage cheese chunks strewn throughout the shag carpet, stretching from the bedroom through two hallways and across the kitchen. I had absolutely no idea how to clean this up. They never give you tutorials on that in childbirth class.

I got another towel and put the dirty bedding on it and carried the whole bundle downstairs, and had a dilemma. If I rinsed the stuff out in the sink, I'd clog it. If I put it directly in the washer, it wouldn't be able to come out of the washtub because the holes are too small. What to do? I wound up taking each item to the toilet and shaking it out hard, knocking off as much as I could, then running it item by item to drop in the filling washer, while I yelled for hubby to bathe the poor baby and I barked orders at Wiggle to take a soapy rag and wash down the (luckily waterproof) mattress. I had to wash my legs and feet by the time all the stuff got into the washing machine, and I'll leave that part to your imagination. *I* wanted to sob and throw up at this point. And I still had the carpet to deal with.

The kids and hubby are now asleep, and the carpet is as clean as I could get it, but I really must say I could have done without this welcome to my wedding anniversary (16 years, yay!). I would love to read my flist, as I know I am so far behind, but at this point I just want to cry and so I am going to bed.

::hugs everyone and drags self miserably to bedroom::
