The Difficulty Of Simplicity

Breathing

is so essential and automated;
no need to control it
It is as if being on auto-pilot -
it regulates itself;
while you’re running
while watching TV
when you’re angry or
making love
while giving birth or
climbing Mount Everest

Breathing is essential
(I have heard)

And so, strike a pose
Wear a smile
And make great plans
Continue the marathon
You lasted this long
Just keep on moving
TV
Making love
Climbing Mount Everest

It cannot come down to something as basic as;
Breathing..?

But
I’m there; here
Breathlessly screaming, panting from effort
Stuck in a limbo of fruitless ambitions
Of tracks leading nowhere
And breaths getting lost among them
Choked in a sea of lost routine, lost breaths
Reminding myself to count the seconds from insanity
And there’s nothing remotely close to
Assimilate auto-piloting

Sorry to announce that; Essentiality of breathing
Has shut down

I’m just surprised nobody heard the whining breaths
Just before I fell
And now
When I’m still climbing these endless stairs
While simply concentrating on:
Inhale - Exhale
Taking every effort I can muster
Just to force the mechanism to work
In and Out
Run the system, push it pull it
Smooth and even, keep the continuity
At least regular if not regulated
Just don’t stop - Just breathe

So how can I manage
Anything else than surveilling the system?

Because
I don’t remember how to inhale
My body have forgotten
My heart has lost track of beats
And my lungs are just confused
It is a necessary force, a
Last act of consciousness
A survival instinct
My last attempt of self-control
To artificially pretend to live
To try to survive
To learn how to breathe
Revive the instinct; the experience of being
A breathing organism
Once again

Because
Nothing is essential

Seventy new minutes to handle
As a blank copy of everything else
And never enough oxygen to inhale
That I deal with;
Breathing myself away from every day

As it is -
Essential

Please forgive me for
Not climbing
Mount Everest

I am so busy
Breathing
