18 months
What does 18 months mean to you?
To me it means
peace
wealth
love
growth
loss
gain
empowerment
finding your place in life
finding the person to walk with you
I sued to spend alot of time wondering what I would do with out a safe harbor
I felt like a sailor with no direction
the sun clouded out by drama, self loathing.
thinking i would never find my way.
Then I met her.
Let me tell you about her.
I met her at Club rapture,I was a DJ and promoter doing something I love and miss very much. She made a request and i got it done because I enjoyed her song selection. We talked for a brief minute and then let it be.
I remember the first time I talked to her. We met in AIM chat and spent the better part of a full day talking. We had so much in common and so much more that we disagreed on and it made me so happy to speak with someone so strong minded. I respect people who speak there minds. Those who don't shy away from controversy if it is for the rights of others or for them selves. But she was lost with her head in the clouds chasing a dream in a boy who had no respect for woman.
I remember going to SAN FRAN to go clubbing and mentioning her to my friends at that point in time and hearing them say OH she is crazy, I remember wondering at that point why I was friends with the judgmental.
Then I remember walking her to her car.... over and over...saying good night to her and letting her drive off. I remember giving her counsel on things she was having a tough time and on and recv the same from her in my life.
Then I remember how brave she was that night, how she just laid it all on the line for me.
How i was shocked, floored, and could not stop giggling.
I remember our first date, the sun the smells.
I remember the first meal i cooked for her.
I remember the first big argument and how I felt lost and how with slow understanding we both got it right back on track.
I remember 1 year
I remember 6 months
and I know truly what happiness is
and it only took me 18 months to remember it.
Happy 1.5 years love.
