Last summer, my attempt at writing a novel fell through after two pages. This was because of a multitude of reasons:
-I hadn't written anything worthwhile in about two years -- aka, my English classes were a joke.
-Poor planning on my part
-The tone I started writing the prologue in and the tone I started writing the actual chapter in were entirely different
-I couldn't come up with a bad enough reason for my character/angel to be cast out of Heaven
-My beta was a POS and never sent me an edited copy of what I had, despite the fact that I specified a one-week turn-around time, and when I questioned him about it, he said "I forgot" -- yet never sent it to me after that either.
This summer, I WILL write a full-length novel. Again, for a multitude of reasons:
-My English class was fabulous this year and I learned a lot
-I've been reading a lot and that helps me write as well (not in an I'm-going-to-steal-your-plot kind of way, mind you)
-I think I've found my "unique voice"
-I've fallen in love with the joys of stream-of-consciousness writing
-I at least have a bit more of a general direction that I want to take this story
Chances are, though, that I'm going to lose inspiration and quit this story. It happens every time. Meh.
Heyyy, you! Yes, you! You can help me alleviate this problem by writing a collab with me. Round-robin style. Let's gooo!
