The concert was amazing... I can't even begin to describe it. The people, the theater, the experience... all good.
James was... beautiful and powerful and made me feel everything as I should have. His set seemed short but he played most of his songs and a couple of songs I didn't know. During one of his songs he played war footage. I can't tell you how much I wanted to cry. The friends... were great: John, Shan, Chris, Mike, Kristofer, Kelly, Nick, Shelby... AGH... it was only too great. I was so overwhelmed.
The opening band was kind of shitty... ummm girl singer sort of sounding like Tori Amos... she looked coked out. Then came an amazing band... they were SO much fun. They were great. If I had to describe them, I would say Snow Patrol meets Franz Ferdinand meets The Beatles... we danced so hard. I'm definitely going to try to get a hold of their cd though. It was two brothers, one on guitar and harmonica (at the same time), and one just singing, plus a fun bass player, another guitarist and a drummer. All with British accents... good times.
When James came out it was such a rush. We were literally within 25 feet of him at times. It was him and three or four other band members and the screen behind them had a dancing monkey... it was great. He's so great in concert... like the cd, only better. It was such an emotional experience that I wanted to cling to someone so bad...
Highlights: doing "the butt" with John, Sitting on the floor with Chris and Mike and almost inciting a riot, screaming at the top of my lungs and dancing, amateur grab-ass, and just being with a lot of people that I care about knowing that I could do whatever I wanted.
