Is it nudity if you just write the words, "He was nude" ?
I was just checking out some new Slashy fanfic over at one of the Due South livejournals and in the header of one of the fics it had the rating which was listed as
"Rating: 15 (nudity, violence, language)"
I've seen this sort of rating/warning on other fics and I've never understood why some writers feel the need to add it. It really makes me laugh...and then shake my head in exasperation. Unless the fic is illustrated (be it with drawings or a full color glossy shot of Fraser taking it up the ass from Ray) then why the hell do you need to warn that there is "nudity" in the story? No, there is sexual content in the story. There are depictions of graphic homosexual sex in the story, but unless you are doodling dicks in the margin, there is no nudity.
It's one of those things that is sort of becoming a pet peeve of mine. It ranks right up there with people who rate their fic R or NC-17 and then have no sex in the frakking story! Talk about false advertising!
