last night we had a good time. roses for the waitress... me and chuckie had a midnight battle. and scott had a battle with a cactus... and he won
this morning the girls took forever to get ready so we were kinda late...
no dirt mcgirt or any translator for that matter was very nice we all sat down for lunch with vincente ( 18 y.o. peruvian who works on the orphanage and used to attend it), and gregory a very lanky goofy 20something frenchman (the french equivalent of ben in physique)
first gregory kept telling us how all americans have superiority complex and that we all feel the need to work out nonstop and he kept pointing to scott... then we talked about bad words and disses and then we talked about the children and gregory brought up a great point about the open-mindedness of the children and that they are all willing to try new things and see new experiences and they are all very eager to learn and share, with that he made the point that the country has alot of potential to turn around and pull itself up out of poverty with progressive ideas... i dunno if that makes sense but it was said more eloquoently in his spanglish... then we talked with vincent about slang and he was telling me about how many of his friends love hip hop but they cant find translations for any of the words because its all slang... and i kind of explained it to him and some of the basic terms used in ebonics often. overall it was a very fun conversation but it was very very educational i probably learned more today then i have in anyother day of my life.
as far as the children were concerned we played some soccer with them and they all recieved candy today but the first thing they did was to run up to us and ask if we wanted some of there candy it was pretty heart warming to see the values in these little 10 yearolds
tonight we are going to try and hang out with gregory and vincente in barrancos (a local district).
in some aspects i wish i could be home to deal with some things right now... but i{ll deal with that later... still having a good time...
mucho love.
peace
