movin' on up....
sooooo yesterday, the chief estimator mentioned in passing how he wants me to turn in my self assessment ASAP because he needs someone to take over and delegate divisions 6-14. ie, me.
which means that i'm probably receiving a promotion when i get back from maternity leave. and a fat raise. I'll be moving up to level 2 (out of 9) after only 4 months of working with turner. thus more or less concurring with my plan to get to Sr. Estimator and level 5 within 5 to 6 years. i added a new goal... I want Gary's job. when he gets put into ken's position, i want Gary's current position.
It's also kind of nice because my relationship with gary is getting to the point where he's showing me and making me aware of political crap going on in our department. things that as an assistant estimator, you don't see. Not only that, he's trusting me and showing me the ropes on how to lead a project. he's including me on the scope set up. he's my mentor. and a damn good one. =)
it's the first time in my life where i can honestly say that i have a mentor. it's a good feeling.
