Today was an awesome day. It was pretty rare and fun. I got to work this morning, where my friend at work, C, immediately IMed me from her cubicle and said, "I want a bagel." "Want to go halvsies?" I replied, and within minutes we were back outside the giant building in which we work and down the street. We split a delicious bagel sitting in the sunshine of an unusually empty Bryant Park (we work across the street from it).
I came back in a good mood and my supervisor came in and said she had a project for me if I had time. I ALWAYS have time, and I was actually really pleased by the project I was given. It had elements of design in it, was challenging, consumed my entire day, but had a satisfying end result. Plus, today I felt not guilty procrastinating a little. I'm starting to think it's definitely okay to procrastinate, since I have to stretch out the projects they give me because I finish them unusually fast.
I had a good lunch and the very fine guy who works near me gave me CHOCOLATE COVERED PEANUT BRITTLE. P was also amiably chatting with me the whole afternoon, and when he had to run an errand he texted instead of IM :) Towards the end of the day, everyone got antsy that it was Friday and we all chatted lots.
After work, I zoomed off to Union Square to meet up with two friends. One was meeting up a little later, so E and I wandered around a bit, went to Anthropologie, and realized that we get along much better than we thought. As we were waiting for our other friend, we spotted a weird truck, see-through (glass) with a fancy pink inside. It was a whole set up promoting the second season of some bad Lifetime t.v. show, but we were just like, "Oh what the hell!" and jumped online for free goodies. It turned out we were standing online for FREE MASSAGES, and it turned out to be one of the best I had.
R met up with us eventually, and we walked around trying to figure out where to get dinner and drinks. Some marketing guy gave us seriously discounted coupons for a new salon, and then gave us a recommendation to a nearby place. We took his advice and went to Lillie's, right by Union Square where we started (we had walked quite a bit by now). It was super crowded, but we had delicious drinks and great food!
And then it turned out my dad was in the city too, so he came and picked me up and drove me home! When I got home, the mail had arrived and I had my paycheck and my TrueBlood box set waiting for me.
