Last night, at Epoch, I made Jason watch a ton of music videos, even though he really wanted to go home. I just kept naming songs, asking if he had ever seen the video and of course each and every time it was a no. It was then that I realized that most of my childhood memories revolved listening to 94.5 (which is now 102.1) the edge in Dallas, and watching videos on Sunday afternoons with my sister. Apparently, there was a regular TV station, NOT CABLE because we didn't have it at the time, that played music videos from like 2am- 5am Sunday mornings. So, we would record them and watch them after church. This was around 1994 when I was only in 3rd grade and lasted until 1997. My sister was going into high school. Well, I guess I should thank my sister for getting me into a hobby and introducing me to my passion.
The reason I am writing this is because I have decided that we need to bring back some of the good old days. When videos were worth watching, and the bands were worth listening to. There are still a few bands that are still very much worthy out there, it just seems like we have lost what rock and roll really is. ( and no it isn't screamo.) So about every week, I am going to post a video and give some of the history behind it.
So Lets start with today. Primus' Wynona's Big Brown Beaver. Dear Lord this video gave me some odd dreams. Released in 1995 from the album Tales from the Punchbowl Yes the band is wearing latex. They actually had to slow the song down while filming so that they can move correctly while playing and then sped it up to actual tempo. Great video and the song makes me oddly happy.....
