Well, as you all know, I'm quite the Queen fan. I have both of their "greatest video hits" releases and, quite honestly, they did some questionable videos. Most of them are just harmless fun, as one can see while viewing CLIPS of the videos. Watching the entire things, though, one tends to become confused and afraid.
Regardless. The second greatest video hits video goes up through their second to last album (or third to last if you count the album they released after Freddie died.... which sometimes I count and sometimes I don't). Their last album, however, had some of their best videos. In fact, if had their best video and one of my favorite music videos I've ever seen. Perhaps I'm biased, but I don't think I am. It is kind of a cool video.
That being said, here it is. I strongly urge you to watch it, even though, I'm sure 0% of the people that read this will because it's Queen and they'll anticipate a kind of head stomping We Will Rock You video or something. But trust me. This song is neat. The video is neat. Just humor me??? No. Well, screw you.
http://www.allmusicvideocodes.com/q/Queen/10804-Innuendo/ And another fun one from that CD is a video for the song The Show Must Go On. This one, I don't blame you for not checking out. But I like it. It's one of those sappy "remember how awesome and fun this guy was?" videos that are always made after people die. And, in fact, it was made after Freddie died and features lots of clips from their earlier videos in which Freddie acted a fool or was being silly or whatever mood he was in that close minded people chalked up to being gay (straighter people have acted so much more gay).... oh yeah, and it does feature a lot of clips from the I Want To Break Free video in which they all cross-dressed (a song written by their straight-and-married bass player and a video thought up by..... I don't remember who, but not Freddie). Either way, it's a fun memorial type thing. Watch it if you like sappy things like that... and if you liked Freddie Mercury. Which you should.
Kind of a heavy song, too. Written by Brian May about Freddie having AIDS but keeping on the "healthy mask" and trudging on without letting anyone know anything. Lots of lines that he later admits, he wasn't sure if Freddie would even sing. IE- "Inside my heart is breaking, my make up may be flaking but my smile still stays on" etc. Either way, knowing the history of them, it's heavy... and it IS about the AIDS thing. If you ever look up what people things Queen songs are about, they'll always mention AIDS as the topic of songs from as far back as 1973. This is the ONLY song that is about the AIDS thing before their album that was released after he died. Watch.
