Sunday mornings, and lazy Sunday afternoon's.
The weather in Kodiak has been cold, windy, and snowy for a good couple of weeks now. 50+mph winds are not fun if you are:
A: skating
B: driving
C: walking from car to House (work, gym, bar)
D: grilling steaks on the porch
E: All of the above
Anyway, it's cold in Alaska, duh.
I started my career as local NPR radio DJ. After a couple days of studio training I played my first set of music during the Acoustic Music Hour on Kodiak's local station, KMXT. I slipped in a couple of obscure songs, including one by Coralie Clement (fantastic french artist, i suggest looking into "Bye bye beaute" if you've got a few minutes), and some favorites of my own (such artists as Elliott smith, dashboard confessional and jack johnson). I tried to get some Ween and The get up kids into the play list, but I couldn't find anything acoustic enough because of the selection available at the station. I'm going to have to get some music from home into the station so i can fully rock the station the way I need to.
i've got another few days of station training this week before I finish up on Saturday at which point I'll be off and running, playing good tunes for all of the listeners out there. For those of you not in the Kodiak-area (aka everyone who might possibly be reading this) you can check out some live streaming on-line at www.kmxt.org
that's what's going on new in my world.
In other news, I continue to dominate my weight loss challenge competition. After week one I weighed in at 8lbs less than my starting weight. Tuesday is fast approaching and my week 2 weight should be another big number, pushing me hopefully to the individual lead (my team is not as hardcore about getting back into beach shape as I am, so the team lead escapes me).
I'm off to the gym to burn some calories. 3,500 more from now and another pound is gone. peaceskee
