In The Dark.
“Oppa.” Jieun suddenly opened the conversation between her and Changmin-who was busy with his Blackberry, checking the messages and his Twitter, and finally he turned his head to the girl who sat beside him at the airport lounge. After he looked at her and responded the call only with, “Hmm?” Jieun started to open her lips again. “Why should you go to the States anyway? What are you going to do there? When will you come back?” she chirped like there’s no tomorrow, that made the elder one laughs for a while. It was like the third time she asked him about that-well, Changmin didn’t answer to her questions before-because he suddenly distracted with his gadget or his luggage.

Though, actually, he didn’t really want to answer those questions.

“Because I really have to.”

“Then, why?” Jieun is a very typical girl who’ll never run out of curiosity-even for something cliché like this.

“Because you’re scary! I should leave you for a while or you’ll eat me up alive slowly!” Changmin showed off his annoying face while his hand ruffled her hair brutally. Jieun’s face looked totally sullen then she started to sulking him by hitting his arms with both of her hands. “Am I monster for you!?”

“Yah, YAH! Jieun-ah, it hurts!” He shifted his butt to the empty seat beside him while he rubbed his arms. Changmin began to pout, so did Jieun. Then he snorted, so did she. He folded his hands on his chest, Jieun was keep doing the same. He turned his head to the left, the young girl followed him with turning her head to the right. But when Changmin glanced at her, she didn’t do the same-instead, she kept her position. With the speed of light, he gave her a light kiss on her left cheek. “Don’t miss me too much, okay?” said he, with a smile imprinted on his face.

Changmin really knew how to make Jieun ‘tame’.

“Changmin-ah.”

Yeonhee, Changmin’s pretty beloved cousin, tapped him on the shoulder-breaking their fluffy situation. “We have to be on the plane right now.” She grinned as she left him with his own ticket on his hand. He looked at ticket for a while, then turned to Jieun’s face-who was sad; kinda hate with goodbyes thing. “Oppa, when will you come back?”

“Soon, Jieun-ah.” Again, Changmin gave him a peck-right now, on her forehead. “I’ll call you later, okay?” he stood up, with his pair of eyes still looking at the girl’s face. Jieun just only nodded, as she also followed him to stand up. “Tell Minho to clean up my apartment, yeah?”

“Alright!” she smiled widely, throwing the fact that she really hates goodbyes, even it’s just for a temporary time. She waved her hands as Changmin disappears from her views slowly. She sighed as she leaves the airport lounge, then Jieun suddenly felt shocked when Minho appeared right in front of her-with Taemin on his side, linking his arms to Minho’s. Then they walked together to the exit door of the airport, with Minho in the center. Not a single word even spoken by one of them. Taemin was still on his comfort zone, so was Minho, while Jieun bowed her head-she kept thinking about Changmin and the reason why he should go abroad. For Jieun, he wasn’t the one who typically kept a lot of secrets from her. He always let Jieun know the reason when he should go somewhere, but not for now.

The silence was broken when they stepped at the outside of the big airport building, when suddenly Minho asked her, “Do you want us to take you home, Jieun?”

“No…” she shook her head slowly. “I have to go somewhere, so maybe I’ll take a taxi now.”

Minho knew enough if she wanted to be alone for a moment.

“Okay then. Be safe, okay?” he said, as he (and Taemin) left her waiting for a taxi coming to her, with his hand grabbed Taemin’s, softly. “Taeminnie.”

The strawberry blonde hair boy widened his eyes, as he called by the elder, taller one. He did know when he sounded happy or sad, or even afraid. But he let him speak more. “I have kind of… bad feelings.”

-----
Inside the taxi, Jieun kept looking at the outside-rain suddenly poured down heavily. The driver even played a mellow song, it really fitted her feelings perfectly. Though, she didn’t know if Minho’s car was right behind the taxi, driving his car while he noticed at how fast the taxi which was ridden by her. He stayed at the normal speed, as advocated by Taemin. It was heavy rain so he couldn’t really see the cab clearly. But then, there was another car at the crossroad, passed fast and a bit focused on the cab.

“JIEUN!” Minho shouted inside his car, Taemin looked at both Minho and the taxi panicly.

The girl was still pretty focused the views outside. It must be good if she brought a camera-she and Changmin would like to take lots of shots by themselves.

“AGASSHI!” the driver shouted to her, as he lost his control to drive his taxi-it made her shouted as well. The driver was about to avoid the car in front of them but he ended up drove his car to any direction as he could see.

But the collision couldn’t be inevitable at all.

-----
It had been three and half days, since Jieun rested in the hospital bed, with coma. Minho was the only one who waited for her to open her eyes frequently even since he brought her to the hospital-after that car accident. Sometimes Taemin waited for her at the first day, even just for an hour because he had another practice to do. Jieun was the only child, and her parents was gone when she was sixteen (and right now, at her age of seventeen, she lived herself in her father’s apartment)-so none of her family would come to see her. Also, Minho already called Changmin when finally he arrived at the States.

“What did you say earlier, Minho!? Is that true!?”

“I’m sorry, hyung…”

“Aish! I wish I could be there soon.”

“Concern to your health first, hyung. I’ll take care of her here.”

It was a shiny afternoon, Jieun hadn’t woke up from her coma yet. Minho sat on the sofa, waiting for her to wake up. Until his another hyung, Jonghyun, came to her room-along with Nicole, who was apparently overanxious about Jieun’s condition. Jonghyun directly approached the tall guy when Nicole suddenly walked to Jieun’s bed. “Jieunnie!! My baby, aigoo, how could that happened!” that Jung girl grabbed the little one tightly. As Jieun’s mother, she was… really aware of everything about her.

“She hasn’t woke up yet?” asked Jonghyun, as he elbowed Minho’s arm. He just shook his head, as the negative answer. “I tried to talk to her several times, but I guess it hasn’t worked yet.”

“Nghh…”

That was a big surprise for them, while Jieun suddenly moved her fingers slowly. “Jieunnie!” Nicole almost shouted too loud, until she tried to make herself calm. She helped Jieun to wake up and sit over her bed.

“Nicole-unnie…”

“Jieun, are you okay?”

“Turn on the lamp, please?”

Everyone in the room were shocked with Jieun’s question-that it made them went silent for a moment. Minho’s bad feeling must be right. He walked slowly, approached Jieun, with his heart which was anxiously beating too fast. It couldn’t be…

“Jieun, it’s afternoon.”

“Afternoon?” Jieun was really confused with that fact. The only thing she could see right now was only… nothing. Everything looked like a pure black screen for her. She tried to poke both of her cheeks together-believed that it was only her dream or something similar with that. But no, she already woke up. It wasn’t even a dream after all. Her hand waved to anywhere, even in front of her face.

“Jieun-ah, stop.” Minho’s hand grabbed Jieun’s hand, he held it tightly. A few seconds ago, Nicole left Jieun’s bed, ran toward Jonghyun-and hug him tightly, Jonghyun just left her crying on his shoulder. He also didn’t believe with the reality right now, but he stayed calm. He tapped Nicole’s back softly while the girl on his embrace started to teared out. On the other side, Minho was still holding Jieun’s hand. He knew that Jieun wasn’t trying to throw a lame joke, but need to sure with himself.

“Jieun, could you see my face?”

“Uh… no.”

“…”

“Minho-oppa, I don’t go blind, right?”

-----
“Unfortunately, her blindness is permanent, Mr. Choi. I’m sorry we can’t do anything else to restore her eyesight, except if she gets the donor.”

The doctor’s words was repeated several times in Minho’s head. And until right now, he felt bad for himself not to force her to ride with his car instead at the day when the accident happened. But he knew, Jieun didn’t like being forced for something. As he watched her fell asleep, Minho couldn’t help but kept thinking about him giving his eyes to her. But he didn’t want to lose his sight so he couldn’t see Jieun anymore. It was selfish, he knew that.

For this night, Minho would just sit beside her, looking at those purely angelic face. He liked it, really like it. He knew-Minho probably knew her through Changmin, her beloved boyfriend. She was Changmin’s little junior at his college, both of them followed one of their college’s club-and Minho was amused to know that Changmin declared his love to her in front of their campus, and then they were become college’s sweetheart. He said to Minho once that Jieun has a pair of beautiful eyes.

That was right. But she couldn’t see anything but dark now, and Minho still considered it as his fault.

“Oppa…”

It was 2:30-pretty late (or early?) enough for Jieun to wake up. Her hand went anywhere, to find where Minho was. But again, Minho successfully held her hand as if she had found him. She blinked her eyes but still, Jieun saw nothing but dark. “I definitely could have my eyesight again, right?”
