Back from the gym and eating oatmeal, and I had a great workout. I can now curl more than I used to be able to bench, and for that matter more than I squatted one week ago. However, though still unimpressive in itself, the amount of weight I can squat is going up fast, much as I suspected it would. Even better, it is helping, and not hurting, my running. Now if ever it would hurt the running, I'd expect that to happen in the first week of starting back to legs. However, I think that easing into it as I did, helped to minimize the agony of muscle soreness. Granted, I've had a fair amount of pain in the legs this week, but not to the point that it kept me from running or lifting. I got my set of twenty at 155, and jumped up then to 185, and squeezed out ten. Now that's still girl weight for squatting, but a thirty pound gain in four days (and after a six mile run to fatigue the legs) I will take. My calf raises are slowly improving too, I went up to 110 (from 100), fot one set of 20, then I think the other sets I got 19, 18, and 17. So I will stay with that weight till I can get four sets of twenty. Moved up the hamstring curls ten pounds and got my four sets of twelve, think I'll keep going with that for hamstrings, and for quads I moved up another plate (fifteen pounds on that machine) to 120, and did four sets of 18. Wednesday I'll try and make it twenty. I really think at the rate I am going, and seeing the difference in what people do for their regular training runs vs being in a race, I will be able to keep up just fine with my student in France, unless she decides to run as fast as she can just for the purpose of making fun of me for being too slow, which is certainly within the realm of possibility, haha. Who knows though, maybe I can recruit some other runners, such as the other teacher, I know she runs.
Anyway, the round steak is smelling delicious. I keep checking the crockpot and adjusting the time, I had it planned out perfectly till the darn thing shut off on me and i lost an hour or so. But using my mathematical and logical skills (the Vulcan portion of my brain) I think I have it planned out perfectly, if the crockpot cooperates. I keep checking it frequently to make sure it doesn't randomly shut off, and so far so good. Peace and long life, my fellow Vulcans.
