Well well, take a look at the city. Watch as the citizens wallow in each others' gratitude. After all, that is much better than the more blatantly wretched self-congratulations, is it not? Are we so mired in the search for "self-esteem" and otherwise inflate the perception of the masses' lacking worth? Or shall we dissect this holiday culturally? ( Read more... )

I wonder, you must be affluent... a poor man would have said taxes and death. Of course, I shall not argue with the assertion. Hypocrisy is indeed one of the few societal factors which does not change.
