Figs, Farms and Cyclopses

Aug 22, 2008 15:09

I just ate a pint of fresh figs. Aphrodisiac doesn't even begin to describe figs. The pink fleshy insides and strange earthy sweet taste... and that photo of Dan... er...

So, the figs came from the farm I went to last night. One thing you gotta know about Portlanders is that they LOVE their produce. And everything grows here (okay, almost everything). If you're eating a pear - it came from here or Japan. If you're eating a hazelnut, it came from here. Gardening is Portland's number 1 pastime. In the spring and summer you can't go outside without being smacked in the face with the smell of flowers. It's friggin' glorious!

Some people feel best in the mountains, for some it's the ocean, me, I like farms. I adore farms. And there are so many of them here. Cute, organic, u-pick farms with chickens running around and bee hives off in the distance. I am so not exaggerating about my love of farms. I am on the Board of Directors for one, and I go fruit picking all the time. And the point of my long-winded story is...

Last night my man and I danced and wiggled at the Midnight Seranaders concert at Kreuger's Farm Market on Sauvie island. It was babytastic and we rushed home to try and make some (tmi? sorry ;P) And it was DILF-tastic too! I mean WHOA! Hello PAPA! I saw some sexy as fuck men last night. (Holding their adorable babies and sitting with their beautiful wives, but never mind that.)

Midnight Seranaders - Squirell Nut Zippers-esque - very fun, very fun to dance to!

Kreuger's Farm - ((HEART)) - I actually looked into getting married here. I do a yearly pumpkin picking breakfast and caravan out to this farm every year. Hay rides, dahlias, incredible food!

Sauvie Island - 20 minutes from the city this little island is mostly farms - adorable farms! If you come to Portland, go bike riding around Sauvie Island (so-vee).

(This isn't the band, or the kids from last night, but this is where it was and what it looked like - except with a sunset)

And last, but not least, I just had my first cyclops. Granted it was very mild from what I've heard out there, but it did make me laugh out loud:

The only problem I really have is that sometimes I think you begin to rush too much

19 chapters in and this person just read their first kiss. But yeah, I guess I should slow it down. LOL! I was like, "um, are you sure you're reading *my* story?" Haha!
