I'm putting it all under a cut:
The storm. Over 2 feet of snow in our little yard. Yeah, we measured it. Said snow is covering a quarter inch of solid ice. Makes for trecherous driving, walking or any form of outdoor mobility, save skiing and snowshoeing. And you can bet that Portlanders do lots of both. Kooky people here.
Mr. Ilke made a snowman. Make no mistake, he may not have arms, but he is a snow MAN. And he's sporting a lovely mohawk. *smiles proudly at Mr. Ilke*
Christmas at ilkehouse. I love a fresh Douglas Fir. I also love ornaments. I don't love the fact that with all the guests we host each holiday, this house is a tad too small to accommodate thefresh tree. Compromise: the ornament tree. I do love this thing with all my heart. Even in our next house, this little guy will have a place of honor. *grin*

This is the first time I've made this cake and let me tell you I will be making it many times in the future. The creamcheese - mascarpone - whipped cream frosting was too DIE FOR! And for some reason, I felt it was neccessary to share the process with you:
