Okay. Let's see. These past two point something weeks have been really good. The first week home I got to spend a lot of time relaxing and playing some video games. Yes, I am a complete nerd who enjoys playing video games. My bro and I went to see Feathers on that Thursday after the bro got home, and Mr. F was happy to see that I'm also a Sinfonian. I had no clue he joined Sinfonia and he showed my his Themes of Brotherhood and his small songbook from 1994. That made me happy to see that there are older college alumni who possess the fraternal spirit still.
The second week was preparing for Spring String Thing and then working SST. I made the trips to and from Harrisonburg on my own and I enjoyed the driving. It is so scenic in the mountains. I just wish I had time to visit Reddish Knob. Anyways, let me just say: That was a buttload of fun working Spring String Thing. Although I didn't really get to know that many kids, I was able to take care of my responsibilties and still retain some sanity. I was a counselor for a small group of younger guys and I was also the orchestra manager for the Bravo Orchestra, a group of 76 kids that ranged in ages 11 to 13. There were about 515 kids at the camp over the past 3 days. My orchestra's kids were extremely talkative and some complained of the difficulty of the music, but they all had a good time. It was definitely an interesting experience since it was my first year doing anything related to SST. I still got everything to work out, and I have a strong feeling I'll be asked to come back to help out next summer. I am learning to work well with kids and meet more people I wouldn't normally talk to on a regular basis. I got to know a couple of the other counselors a little better and I'm looking forward to seeing them next semester.
Tomorrow I get to begin working at Yupo, doing the same thing I did all last summer. Although I don't like it a lot, I get to listen to a lot of good books on CD and the pay is pretty good, even though I have to go through Reliance again. I don;t like that temp agency, they are not helpful when you call with a real question. Oh well. Goodnight.
To the preppy C-ville chick who doesn't beleive in online communication anymore: I don't like the traffic around Charlottesville. It was dragging in a lot of places. And that was both times I was driving along the outskirts of that weird city.
