Well...I'll start this out by saying that I hope that everyone who is old enough to vote this year is registered and going to get out there and do their part this comming Tuesday. It's for more than just President. One of the issues you can vote on...is the issue of gay marriage. You may not like gays, you may not agree with the fact that they should get married, but I want you to think about something. What was our nation founded for? Wasn't one of the rights that we were given, and that we so proudly fight for everyday in Iraq...the fact that all men were created equally, and that they should all have the freedom here in America to be equal with everyone else, where they're not looked down upon for being different (this is what it is ideally supposed to be like, not what it actually is like, as we all know) In voting against gay marraiges, are we not denying people this fundamental right? Are we not denying people their earned right as an American to be different and be accepted for it? We're denying people equality. Something that I will never consent to. And I think everyone should think about it, what does it mean to be an American? To me, it means equality and freedom. Freedom we so proudly procalaim and try to force upon other nations with different governments than us.
Something I hate, people who selfishly vote for President. People who don't think about what is good for America, but what is good for them. Tax breaks? Awesome. Who cares if it takes away money from programs that need it, programs that help sick people pay for their perscriptions or help people live when they can't get enough money to do so. Who cares, I get to save money? And a religious zelot in office? Awesome. He will support my religion and further it's influence and my beliefs. Nevermind the fact that some people are having their rights denied, nevermind that a mother might have to die because she wasn't allowed to have her baby aborted to save her life, because it was against someone's religion. Nevermind the fact that there is supposed to be separation of church and state. And nevermind the fact that not everyone in America is Christian. Nevermind that they were given the freedom to follow the religion of their choice and should be able to, without having someone in office changing things to fit his specific religion. nevermind all of that. I benefit from it, so it must be the best. Think about it, what IS best for America? And not just for yourself. Nevermind the fact that our nation is going against everything it was founded for. nevermind that, I get a tax break. Awesome.
