country livin' for spring break

lane, andy and myself went up to a house i helped build for 1.5 summers a few years ago. its on the eastern side of the sierras 18 miles outside of a town called bridgeport. there was snow, it was beautiful. the crisp, clean cold air was refreshing. you have to hike 3/4-1mile in in the snow to even get to the place. our few days there consisted of eating lots of good food, melting snow on the woodstove for water, shooting guns, playing poker for hours and hours at night, playing lots of old timey music, hiking, an attempt at fishing. on sunday (easter) we woke up early to snow falling down. it was gentle at first but picked up as the day went on. we hiked up to a field and made snow men and used them as targets to shoot at. we left around 4 on sunday and decided to try and get to this obsidian deposit 10 miles south of Lee Vining. the drive took us by mono lake....i had never seen it before but would like to go back. when we got to the trail head for the obsidian deposit it was 28 degrees out howling winds and blinding snow. the trail was covered in about 5 ft of snow and since we didnt have snowshoes we got back in the car and headed home. we ended up stopping in gardnerville nevada for gas and played a few of the quarter slots....my first time gambling....heading over 207 and the kingsbury grade was somewhat trecherous in the storm....but going over the pass on hwy 50 was even worse. sometimes i had to just stop driving and sit because it was a complete white out, i couldnt see. we had to pull over a few times and scrape ice off the windshield wipers/windshield. it continued to snow all the way down to 3500 ft or so. this was a giant storm for this late in the year...some spring were having!

i can truely say i was saddend to come back. i have a lot i need to do this week, but those few days were the some of the best i have had so far this year. Rohnert Park is a great place to leave, but a horrible place to come back to.

I do think my trip to ireland is going to happen. I should know in 10 days. that also means living back in the bay for a month too.

my classes for next semester should look like this. History of Photography, Digital Photography, Advanced Photography, and Intermediate Life Drawing. 3/4 are about photography...no classes on fridays, my latest class only goes till 4pm....it should be a good semester.
