Title: Finally
Rating: PG-13 perhaps?
Characters/Pairing: Peter/Claire, mentions Claire/West.
Summary: Yeah it's Claire's Wedding Day.
Disclaimer: You really don't want to sue me, I don't have much for you to have, my stuffed toys, my dvd collection, my nintendo ds...that's about it. Everything belongs to Kring, lucky bastard.
A/N: I got struck with this idea last night and since frellingblonde is my paire fic goddess I bring this to her on the occassion of her birthday. Now Tess I know you hate West with a firey passion but technically he isn't even in it. And if you get past the references to him I'm sure you'll love it.
A/N 2: This fic is pure crack! AU crack! Probably very out of character too now I think about it but it amuses me so much if it wasn't a fic I'd marry it. Also maybe kind of unbeta'ed, all mistakes are mine!
A/N 3: My paire muse comes back for five minutes then flits away again, WTF?!
A/N 4: Comments are love!

Claire stood looking at herself in the mirror. She was a vision in white. Her dress was a classic Vera Wag, off the shoulders but with long sleeves and a flowing white skirt. She wore no jewellery but being a natural beauty she didn’t need to accessorise much.

“Just think, by the end of today I’ll be Mrs. West…”

“MacWeirdyson.” Niki chimed in, she sat in the chair by the door flicking through a fashion magazine.

Claire snapped her head around and glared at the older woman “Do you mind? You’re talking about the man I love.”

Niki got up and walked over to stand beside her, she took the opportunity to fix her hair in the mirror “Oh come on Claire, he’s weird like really. I’m surprised your dad is letting you marry him.”

“I know dad and West haven’t always seen eye to eye but they’ve gotten past that.”

Niki smirked “They’ve seen passed wanting to kill each other? Well then I’m happy for you.” she gave Claire a hug around the waist “You scrub up nicely I’m going to go out and work the crowd.”

The Church had begun to fill with friends and family of the bride and groom although Niki had to admit she liked Claire’s friends better, West’s family were... well... Children of the Corn came to mind. She suddenly got run into and was ready to lash out at them when she heard.

“Oh! I’m sorry Niki!” Molly smiled up at her.

Niki smiled. She thought Molly looked so cute in her little crimson flower girl’s dress. “It’s okay honey, what are you doing?”

“Micah and I are playing tag.” Molly told her, regaining her breath. She saw her friend come in to the room and squeaked hiding behind her.

Micah walked over to them, “That’s not fair hiding behind my mom.”

Molly peeked her head around and poked out her tongue.

Niki shook her head “Come on guys, go get your things we’ll be starting soon.” The kids both nodded and ventured to get the bouquets and rings ready.

Niki looked at her watch, almost time. The guests were here, the bride was ready the only thing missing now was the groom. ’Where the hell is that kid?’ she thought as she made her back to Claire. She returned to find the mother and step-mother of the bride adding the final touches.

“Everything okay in here?” Niki asked.

Heidi nodded “We had a minor dress emergency but everything is okay now.”

Claire smiled brightly “Is he here yet?”

“No, baby, but soon I promise.” ‘Or he’ll have me to answer to’. Niki thought and smiled.

“You look beautiful honey.” Heidi squeezed her hand “We’ll catch up later.”

Claire nodded and smiled watching Heidi leave then focused her eyes on her mother “Mom, don’t cry; if you cry I’ll cry and it will turn into this whole big crying thing.”

Sandra nodded “I can’t help it! My little girl is getting married.” Mr. Muggles barked, whether it was in agreement or the fact that Sandra made him wear a little doggie tuxedo will forever remain a mystery.

Sandra smiled “I’ll send your father back when it’s time.”

“Thanks, Mom.” Claire smiled.

Niki opened the door to let Sandra out, then gave Claire a wink. Leaving, herself, she went outside to see if there was any sign of West when she saw Peter sneaking in late. She snickered and went over to tease him. Such a sensitive little empath he was; this would be fun.

“I didn’t think you were going to show up to this thing, you know with your intended marrying another man and all.”

Peter’s heart sank “Don’t do that Nik, Claire is a friend and I support her one hundred percent in whatever she chooses to do with her life.”

Niki stepped closer and smiled “Nice try, Peter. I almost believed that.”

Peter rolled his eyes “Can I see her?”

Niki shrugged “Knock yourself out. The boy wonder hasn’t shown up yet. Just no hanky panky before the ceremony.”

Peter crossed the room and knocked on the door.

“Come in!” Claire called out, she turned when she saw Peter enter. “Peter, hey.”

“Hey,” he nodded, unable to take his eyes off her “You look fantastic.”

“I…thanks.” She blushed “You look good too.” That sounded goofy but he really did look delicious standing there in his tux.

He walked closer to her giving her a smile “I’m not going to ruin things for you Claire, I’ve just come to wish you luck.”

“Peter…” she hugged him, perhaps a little more than usual. He felt so good, he wore her favourite cologne ‘Oh god no Claire, you’re marrying West. You can’t be thinking of Peter, not now.’

Peter smiled down at the short blonde and kissed her lightly on the lips. Claire gasped a little surprised by the action giving Peter an opportunity to deepen their kiss she moved her arms up around his neck one hand going into his hair, god she loved his hair.

Niki stood against the wall, looking at her watch again. ‘Damn that kid, what is so important that he be late for his own wedding.’ She saw Matt enter and breathed a sigh of relief. She gestured for him to come over “You took your sweet time, where is he?”

“There was an accident. Where’s Claire?”

“She’s in there” she gestured then held her hand up to his chest “Let me go in first, make sure she’s decent.” Niki opened the door and peeked inside blushing bride was the right word for it. She smirked and knocked “Claire, Matt is here.” She said loudly.

Peter, well half-naked with fingernail marks on his back Peter quickly made himself invisible. Claire straightened up her dress and composed herself. “Let him in.” she needed to focus on something other than the fact she hooked up with one of her old flames on her wedding day.

Matt entered the room and nodded, giving her a sympathetic smile “Claire, it’s about West,” he started.

Claire frowned “He’s alright isn’t he?”

“Claire I’m sorry, but West died earlier this morning.”

Claire’s eyes went wide “You’re joking right? This is low, Matt, even for you.”

“You know how West likes to go flying?” he started “We were called to the airport to collect remains…at first they thought it was a bird.”

Claire was shocked and confused and a whole lot of other emotions she couldn’t quite register at the moment. Peter became visible again placing his hand on her shoulder.

Matt closed his eyes looking away “Jesus Pete, I’m in the room!”

“Oh!” Peter turned around dressing quickly.

Matt stood “I’ll leave you two to talk. I’m sorry, Claire.” He nodded and walked back out only to be pulled aside roughly by Niki.

“Is it true?” she has of course been listening in at the door and practically squealed when she heard the news.

“Unfortunately yes. There wasn’t much left of him.”

Niki smiled then “Oh you sexy beast, I could kiss you. Here is what we do, you disperse the weird bunch other there and I’ll update our lot on the situation.”

“Niki a man has died, can’t you show a little bit of compassion?”

She reached up and wiped a fake tear away from her eye, “Whimper, sob, wah. Satisfied? Now hop to, if I know Peter half as well as I think I do, we’ll have another wedding today.”

Matt shrugged, put on his serious cop face and went over to talk to West’s family.

Meanwhile Peter and Claire sat next to each other not saying anything, just holding hands. She wasn’t bawling her eyes out like she thought she would have considering she just lost her love. If it had been Peter on the other hand she believed she would have died inside, he was everything and more than West could ever be to her. Hero, friend, lover, she trusted him completely. They had their differences over the past two years but when they kissed, all their problems melted away.

Peter raised their hands, kissing hers “Claire, I’m sorry about West.” He said finally, he didn’t like the guy but to get sucked into a jet engine that was harsh for anyone.

“Thanks, Peter” she gave a sad smile and eyed the door “Oh god his family, what do I even tell them? I can’t go out there.”

“Then don’t, stay here with me.” He hugged her to him.

Claire took up the offer snuggling into his side. ‘I should have married you’ she thought to herself.

Peter chuckled “It’s still early.”

She sat up and looked at him shocked “What?” he did not just say what she thought he just said.

Peter could lie and say misunderstood what he had said but looking down at her now, she looked like an angel. “You already have the dress.”

“Oh god Peter I…” she launched into a kiss.

Niki burst through the door then, the two lovers jumping apart “Come on missy, we have a wedding to attend.”

Claire stood looking at Niki curiously “Didn’t Matt tell you? West…”

“I didn’t mean him.” she winked at Peter “Come on, you.” she pulled him out of the room and up towards the front of the altar where Nathan and Matt now stood.

“What’s going on?”

“Apparently you’re getting married.” Nathan smiled patting his brother on the back. Peter looked around, all of his and Claire’s family and friends where still there yet West’s family was surprisingly absent. “How long was I in there?”

“Short answer, Hiro.” Matt smiled.

Peter looked over and gave the short Japanese man a wave “You don’t think this is a little sudden?” he asked Nathan.

“You’ve been in love with her since the day you met her so no, not at all.”

The organ music started and the crowd turned to see Claire and her father walk down the aisle.

“Should I feel bad about this? I mean, I was set to marry West this morning.” Claire asked her father.

Noah smiled and patted her hand “Just ask yourself this, will doing this make you happy?”

She smiled brightly when her eyes met Peter’s he was the one she wanted, the one she always wanted. She nodded “Yeah, I think it will.”

He smiled “Then I’m happy.” They stopped at the end on the altar and he raised her veil kissing her lightly then he moved to join his wife.

Claire smiled at Peter, this felt right. She was upset about West’s passing but this was how things were meant to be.

The priest smiled and nodded “Dearly beloved we are gathered here today to finally join Peter Anthony Petrelli and Claire Marie Bennet in holy matrimony.”

At that applause went up from the congregation, both Peter and Claire looked back at them surprised.

“Let’s save that till later shall we?” Father Ramsey smiled and continued with the nuptials.
